The Boeckman Buzz
September 3rd, 2023

A Note from Principal Sage
BMS Families,
We are excited to welcome our learners back into the building on Tuesday, September 5th! Please take a moment to watch our Welcome Back BMS video that our staff created for our learners and community! The video is linked below!
As a reminder, the Boeckman Buzz will come out on Sunday afternoons through email. Thank you to all of the families who attended the open house. We appreciated getting the opportunity to meet all of our learners. If you have any feedback or suggestions on our open house, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
As we quickly approach the first day of school, I want to take a moment to share the excitement that our staff has around the 2023-2024 school year. The first day of school is always a special and memorable occasion. Our dedicated team of staff and teachers have been diligently preparing for this year and can't wait to welcome learners back into our school. We believe that the start of a new school year can represent a fresh start, a chance to make new friends, and an opportunity for growth and learning. We understand that it can be both an exciting and emotional time for parents as well, and we want to assure you that we are here to support both you and your child every step of the way. Thank you for putting your trust in us!
We look forward to a great 2023-2024 school year!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Joe Sage, Principal

The purpose of PBIS at Robert Boeckman Middle School is to foster an environment of responsibility, integrity, and compassion maximizing the potential of every learner to be academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally competent.

Attendance Line
If a student will be absent, a parent/guardian must call Boeckman Middle School’s attendance line at 651-460-1405 prior to 9:45 AM each day of the absence. We ask that parents/guardians provide the reason for the absence at the time they call. The school determines if the absence falls within the excused or unexcused parameters. If the school does not receive a call from the parent/guardian the day of the absence, the student’s absence is automatically unexcused.
Opt-In to Text Messages
In addition to emails and phone calls, you can opt to receive emergency notifications in the form of text messages from ISD 192. ISD 192 will utilize the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages straight to your mobile phone with important information about school closings and safety alerts.*
You can participate in this free service* just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587. You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”. SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy PledgeTM so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
*Terms and Conditions: Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Text STOP to cancel. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See schoolmessenger.com/tm for more info.
iPad Loan Agreement
Returning students to Boeckman Middle School and/or families new to ISD 192 (including those incoming 6th-grade students) who elected NOT to sign out their iPads for the summer, will receive their iPads during the school day this year within the first couple weeks back to school. Families must complete the online user agreement and protection plan option for the 2023-24 school year before students receive their iPads. Any student that does not have a current user agreement and protection plan selection will not receive his/her iPad until the required documentation is received. You can access the iPad Loan Agreement and indicate your iPad protection plan preference by going to the main district iPad Loan Agreement page.
***Families/Students that elected to sign out their iPads for the summer DO NOT need to complete any of the above steps as you completed everything in the spring. You are set to go for the school year!
+++If you receive free or reduced lunch, have applied for, and have been approved for Educational Benefits for 2023-24, the fee to enroll in the iPad Protection Plan should show as zero. The application for Educational Benefits must be filled out every year.
Middle School Sports Opportunities
For years, Farmington Community Education has offered intramural co-ed basketball and an intramural co-ed combination of football & soccer. Starting in Fall 2023, Farmington CE will now be your source for the following interscholastic middle school sports: girls volleyball, girls tennis, girls soccer, boys soccer. Wrestling will be offered in the winter; and track & field will be offered in the spring.
Interscholastic Opportunities: this is for participants to compete against other middle schools in the BSC (Big Suburban Conference) as done previously. It is important to note that school-bus transportation will not be available to or from those other schools on meet/match days.
Continued intramural opportunities in co-ed football & soccer will be offered again in the fall and in co-ed basketball in the winter. Those will entail a combination of teaching of basic skills and drills and some game-like opportunities against others in the program. All participants are from Dodge and Boeckman. The after school shuttle bus will still be available for middle school students that need to get to the other building.
Registration opens June 28.
