Community Service
Samelia Hunter, a 9th grader at South Iredell High School, made her own dog treats to pass out at the Humane Society for community service. This is a creative example of what many of our students did in order to meet the community service requirement for this school year. If you have not turned in your form, please do so as soon as possible!
College Visits
If you are planning to take a college tour this summer, take this form with you and have it signed after each tour!
Click here to view and print the college fair form. You can find the fillable form here.
To fulfill the college fair/college visit requirement, Crosby Scholars must speak with four college admission reps about their respective schools. Students typically fulfill this requirement by attending one college fair and submitting a college fair form during their sophomore, junior, or senior year; however, students can also fulfill this requirement by visiting four college campuses or completing virtual tours. If you complete a virtual tour, please save the confirmation email to send us in lieu of the signature.

Make the Most of Summer Break!
Have you made plans for the summer yet? Here are several tips from College Wise and our Crosby Scholars Staff.
- Get a job! Finding a job takes initiative and the job itself will build important traits such as responsibility, punctuality, cooperation, and commitment.
- Make a local impact! Research non-profits in the area and find one with a mission and vision you are passionate about. There are numerous ways you can make an impact in your local community, whether it be sacrificing your time to volunteer at a non-profit or serving your fellow students at school.
- Start a personal fitness routine! You do not have to join an expensive gym to exercise. You can always walk, run, hike, jump rope, or even bike! It is proven that exercise contributes to physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
- Explore summer enrichment programs! Check out CFNC's website to search for one that interests you!(CFNC)
- Take a fun class! Sure, if you would like to jump ahead by taking trigonometry in summer school so that you can jump to calculus next year, go for it! But, you could also learn about jazz, cooking, modern art, web-page design, dance, politics, or whatever else interests you! Whether you take a hard class or one like photography, colleges will be impressed by your desire to learn.
- Try something you have always wanted to do! If you are curious about Karate, take Karate lessons! If you have always wondered what it would be like to work in a book store, send your application through! Fill out an application and see what happens. Colleges love seeing that students are curious and willing to learn something new!
- Travel! Have you ever been interested in going on a mission trip? Do your parents want to go on a family trip this summer? Exploring new places can be fun and traveling can broaden your horizons!
- Read, read, read. Did we mention that reading can be done along with any of the other opportunities suggested???
