INTRAMURAL SPORTS MONDAYS AFTER SCHOOL
Intramurals will run from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. directly after school on Mondays.
Intramurals are after-school sports for Novi Meadows 5th and 6th graders. Students compete against each other in a sport. There are no established teams, but rather the teams are determined at each session. We stress fair play, good sportsmanship, and teamwork...while having fun learning and playing games with our friends. Students should have appropriate shoes in order to participate.
Please see the attached documents for our FAQ and schedule.
YEARBOOK DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 3RD - ORDER TODAY!
COUNSELORS CORNER
In March, we will begin the scheduling process for our current 6th graders moving to the middle school next year. Please take a look at the dates and information below and if you have any questions then please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Wednesday, March 2: Middle School Scheduling Kickoff!
- Teachers will show the middle school scheduling video. This can either take place during A60 or one teacher can cover this for the entire team during their rotation. Each team can decide how they would like to handle this. (Video=10-12 minutes)
- After the video is viewed, teachers will pass out the 7th grade scheduling worksheet to students. In the past, students have just used this worksheet as a guide and have selected courses right in MiStar. This year, PowerSchool is not ready for course input so we will be collecting the worksheet for counselors to input into PowerSchool once the program is ready.
- I will plan to be available throughout the day to answer questions following the video. I can also pop into A60's over the next couple days if you want to contact me to do so as needed.
- Mr. Baker, the middle school principal, will send a communication and video out for parents the same day.
Tuesday, March 8th: Middle School Counselor Visit
- Amy Kilgore will be here all day and we will stop by each A60 to answer questions, review course selections, help students complete the scheduling form, etc.
- We will be available in the cafeteria during lunches to answer questions as well.
Wednesday, March 9th: Schedule forms DUE!
- All homeroom teachers will collect schedule forms first thing in the morning.
NOVI VIRTUAL COURSE OPTIONS: INFORMATIONAL MEETING FOR CURRENT 6TH GRADE PARENTS
Monday, March 7 at 7pm:
Meeting ID: 829 5819 2384

For a summary of this meeting, please watch this 7th Grade Virtual Scheduling Video for current 6th grade parents.
KEEPING A FOCUS ON RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY AND A SENSE OF COMMUNITY
We are trying to focus on the positive things our 6th grade students are doing here at Novi Meadows.
When we see students making responsible choices, doing the right thing, and giving back to their school and peers, we pass out a VIP ticket to share our appreciation.
All VIP tickets go in a weekly drawing for an opportunity to eat lunch in the VIP Cafe.
Once a week, a VIP winner is announced and that student’s entire lunch table gets to eat in the VIP Cafe for a day.
We hope our students are enjoying this as much as we are! We are so proud of these students and the positive impact they are making at Novi Meadows. To the left is our most recent winner Noon Ali.

ABSENT HOMEWORK
Novi Meadows Parents:
When students are absent, teachers will do their best to fill them in on the work they miss. Teachers utilize a variety of tools to keep students up to date on work (Schoology, Google Classroom, on-line planners, etc.). It is not feasible to have absent students Zoom into classes that are happening at school. In addition, teachers are not able to privately Zoom with students who are absent to reteach the lessons. Teachers will provide the work that can be replicated to students upon their return. It is not always possible to recreate classroom discussion or activities
NON BUS DAYS FOR BUS RIDERS
Novi has modified the busing process due to a driver shortage. There will be buses that do not run on a certain day of the week. The following list shows what busses will NOT run on what days:
Monday - busses B, E, G, X will not run
Tuesday - busses D, I, J, R, T will not run
Wednesday - busses H, K, N, W, Y will not run
Thursday - busses A, F, O, P, S will not run
Friday - busses L, Q, U, V will not run
On the day your bus does not run, parents/guardian's will be responsible for transportation to and from school.
PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
For parents who want to make arrangements for after school CARE on the days their bus does not run, please contact Lori Croad at Lori.Croad@NoviK12.org or call 248-449-1257. Space is limited so act as soon as possible.

MASKS OPTIONAL
DROP OFF TIMES AND FLOW OF TRAFFIC
This year we have modified our drop off times for the beginning of the day to help with traffic and congestion on Taft Rd. We will be opening the doors to Meadows at 7:15am (School still starts at 7:30am).
Students who are taking a bus, parent drop off, or walkers will be able to enter the building at this time. Students will go to their respective cafeteria and wait until 7:20am. At that time they will be released to their classrooms.
If you are a parent who drives their students to or from school, please make sure to pull all the way up to allow for the maximum number of cars along the sidewalk. In addition, if you are able to carpool, that might help to alleviate the large number of vehicles in the line.
In addition, please do not drop students off in the middle of the parking lot. This creates an unsafe situation for them and for other drivers who are trying to navigate a busy area. Please wait in the line and drop them off along the curb. They should always exit the vehicle on the right.
Parents of 6th graders who are dropping off students should be aware that buses will need to use the left lane and turn in front of the 6th grade house to access the loading area for students. Please do not block the driveway.
Thank you again for your patience as we focus on getting students to and from school safely.
Sincerely,
Principals Fenchel and Brickey
FOOD SERVICES
Breakfast will be grab and go and eaten in the classroom. Students will make their lunch selections in the morning with their teacher in the classroom. At lunch time students will use their ID badge to receive their individually packaged meal and check out with the cashier. Remember to add funds to your student's account through PowerSchool.
