Principally Speaking
Round I of ISTEP+ is in the books! We are pleased with our students' effort. We look forward to the results at the end of the year and expect to have reason to celebrate.
Today is the end of the third quarter. Student quarter 3 grade reports will be available for viewing on Infinite Campus on Friday, March 16th. Should you have questions regarding your student's performance, please contact his or her teacher to set up a conference. We wish to partner with you to help all our students succeed.

You can order your 2017-2018 yearbook now! There are three ways to order:

The early-bird-ordering cost of the yearbook is $25.00.
After March 1st, the yearbook will cost will be $30.00.
Hendricks Elite Aquatics Team (HEAT)
Hendricks Elite Aquatics Team (HEAT) is holding swim lesson and club team registration days:
March 15th from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM, March 17th from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM and April 7th from 9:00 AM-11 AM.
All registrations are at the Danville High School pool, enter door #17. Please come prepared with a swimsuit, goggles, and towel for evaluations in the pool during registration.
Swim lessons begin April 3rd and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in two available sessions 4:15 PM -5:00 PM and 5:00 PM-5:45 PM. Lessons are available April - July. Private lessons are also available in June/July. All swimmers must be toilet trained to participate.
HEAT Club Team long course practice begins April 30th and runs through July. If your swimmer is new to the club, please bring a copy of the swimmer's birth certificate to registration.

The Builders Club
The Builders Club at Danville Community Middle School will host its 2nd annual “Earth Day 5K” on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Danville South Elementary School. All proceeds from this event will be donated by the Builders Club to Riley Hospital for Children.
The run/walk event will take place on a natural grass trail and is open to all ages. Come join us for a good time and great cause! Check in will begin at 8:00 AM, and the race will begin at 9:00 AM with awards at 10:30 AM. There will be awards for best times in various age groups.
Registration forms and online registration can be found online at: www.danvillekiwanis.org . Register by April 6th online for $20 to receive a free t-shirt and gift bag at event; registrations after April 6th will not be guaranteed a shirt, and registrations the day of the race will be $25.

Builders Club is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership. Builders Club is the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students, with more than 45,000 members worldwide and is supported by Kiwanis International.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Reading is an essential skill—one that opens the door to a lifetime of learning and advancement. We are proud to partner with the Institute of Reading Development to offer the Summer Reading and Writing Program. The program consists of five weeks of classroom learning paired with online instruction materials to help people of all ages advance their skills.

21st Century Scholars Indiana
Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars is a needs- and performance-based program that provides students the opportunity to earn up to a four-year scholarship at an Indiana college or university.
Hoosier students who meet income criteria can enroll during their 7th- or 8th-grade year of middle school. Students commit to maintaining academic success, remaining drug and alcohol free, and completing college-preparation activities.
Scholars are provided resources and assistance to help them plan and prepare for college and pay for expenses not covered by their scholarship.
Applications must be submitted by June 30 of the student's 8th grade year.
Apply online only. Eligible 7th and 8th grade students and their parents or legal guardians can access the online application at www.Scholars.IN.gov . Please review income eligibility requirements online before applying by visiting www.Scholars.IN.gov/enroll .
