Hello Families,
The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time for students, teachers and families. While students are eager to return to renew old friendships and begin new ones, our teachers have been preparing to engage our children in a variety of strategies which will guide them through the learning process. Our staff are committed to unlocking the potential in every student to help them be successful. As we put together our final preparations, we do so with the mission of our School District in mind, which is to...
"To educate all students of the Norristown Area School District (NASD) to become responsible, thinking, creative, literate citizens who strive for personal excellence, function successfully, and enrich society."
The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. However, if the past year and a half have taught us anything, it is COVID creates obstacles, so we must be able to adapt and overcome at a moments notice. Our school district will be collaborating with the Montgomery County Health Department and reviewing recommendations from the CDC to help guide decision making for the new school year. As students prepare to enter our doors at 8:00am on Monday, August 30th please remember;
- when in our schools, all staff and students are required to wear masks indoors;
- students are required to wear masks while riding on buses (in accordance with the CDC order);
- physical/social distancing of 3’ is recommended
Please take a moment to look through this newsletter to familiarize yourself with various school goals, expectations and upcoming events. We are ready to welcome back all of our students, teachers and staff for what, we believe, will be the best school year yet!

Message from Superintendent Dormer
The first day of school is just a few days away. As we focus on final preparations for the start of school on Monday, August 30, we continue our work to overcome supply chain and delivery issues related to food service that are affecting every school district including Norristown. Our food services team has done an amazing job to acquire what we need to ensure that we will have breakfast and lunch available for all students each school day. Due to the issues our vendors are experiencing and limitations of the food we have been able to have delivered, we will not be able to offer the full menu and wide variety of choices our students have come to expect and enjoy. We ask your assistance in helping our students understand that choices will be limited for breakfast and lunch for the next several weeks. We remain committed to providing breakfast and lunch each day. We thank you for your patience and grace as we work to ramp our food services back to full capacity.
Thank you,
Christopher T. Dormer
Superintendent of Schools
