Oprah's success!

Over the time of her life Oprah has became a very successful and influential person. If you look at her past, you could say she went from zero to hero.

Oprah's Childhood struggles.

Oprah was born on January 29, 1954 as Orpah Gail Winfrey. She was born in a rural area in poverty. She had a single teenage mother. She was molested several times in her childhood and early teenage years and by 14 she was pregnant, but her son died in infancy. She moved to live with multiple relatives including her grandma who beat her often but also took her to church where she would read bible verses Oprah later moved in with her father, who valued her education, sent her to a good school and turned her life around. Oprah found an ability of public speaking and drama in school where she won awards and popularity. She was also voted Most Popular Girl.

Oprah's later life.

Oprah became successful later in life as a talk show host becoming Chicago's number 1 talk show. She then signed a deal to make more money for an hour long show named after her, "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Through her life she began to develop a problem with her body weight. At some points she felt as the weight kept coming back no matter what she tried.

Looking back at the positives.

Oprah now looks back at her childhood and is able to thank her grandmother and father for her good education. She also states how, “I know what it feels like to not be wanted…you can use it as a stepping stone to build great empathy for people.” She proves to people that were also abused that they can grow up to be an influential person that understand the mistakes of the past and tries not to repeat them.
