Pillar 6: Advisor Development
The National Conference of Student Activities was hosted in Madison, Wisconsin the first weekend of December. It might have been cold outside, but the warmth of inspiration and innovation to "Fast Forward" kept all the GASC advisors happily comfortable. With such a large delegation from Georgia, it is no wonder that it was announced officially that Atlanta will be the host site of this conference in 2018. From the events included, the advisors were able to hear from amazing speakers from around the country. In addition, Saturday was jammed pack with helpful workshops and presentations to help our student councils be the best they could be. Of course, it wasn't all work for the advisors. Friday night was the Taste of Madison night where the GASC advisors were able to try some authentic Wisconsin cuisine and enjoy everything the vibrant and lively city of Madison had to offer. Saturday night, our friends in the Midwest invited everyone to a real live hoedown as the advisors got to visit a barn and enjoy live-music. When Sunday morning came with the snow flurries in the air, the advisors had no trouble saying good bye this time around, but with heavy bags full of wonderful new ideas and tools to use for the students they work with.
