The majority of the Peruvian population is Catholic Christmas is a big holiday there.

Noche Buena (good night) on December 24th after mass eneryone goes home to open gifts and feasts on a Christmas meal of traditional roasted turkey .

At midnight everyone toasts and watches fireworks

Some adults have big parties after they put the kids to bed.



Instead of a Christmas tree Peruvians put out a notivalty sence of a manger and put the gifts around that

A child is chosen on Noche bueno to put the Jesus figurine into the manger

Snanta was banned by the government because they believe it is a depiction of western greed and capitalism

When receiveing a gift it is customary to give them a hug
