Teaching and Learning at Stone Bank
Sixth graders in Mrs. Brannan's computer class just finished a long unit where they designed their own video games on Gamestar Mechanic with some pretty fantastic results. They're now working on visual design projects illustrating "How To" tutorials. You can view that project showcase here.
Next, students will combine what they learned about programming from Gamestar Mechanic and step-by-step instructions from the How To project to begin coding in the classroom. Students will be exposed to a variety of coding concepts and languages through Scratch, Tynker and CodeHS. All three websites have a plethora of coding opportunities. Ask your 6th grader to tell you more about what they're learning, and try some fun coding activities yourself right here!
SPANISH PLACEMENT TESTING
Sra. Hoffman and several 8th grade students will traveling to AHS on Wednesday, March 22nd, for the Spanish placement testing. To qualify to take Spanish 2 during their freshman year, students are required to show proficiency in listening, writing and grammar skills along with a teacher recommendation provided by Sra. Hoffman. The group will leave Stone Bank around 1:30pm. Testing begins shortly after 2pm. Students who are testing will need to be picked up from the South campus at AHS by 3:15pm. If your student is interested in testing, but hasn’t yet showed you a permission slip, please ask him/her or email Sra. Hoffman.

Terrific job, and thank you to the over forty K-8 students who participated!! Thank you to all who donated fleece and students in senora’s classes who finished more than 10 additional blankets. Thank you in advance to Mrs. Glorioso who will bring 33 blankets to Children’s Hospital for us. Great teamwork Stone Bank School!
