The Walden Weekly
School News You Can Use - May 26, 2023
Dear Walden Families,
We began our GO WILDCATS countdown this week and are off to a very fun end to the school year! We played games, read books outside, and had a very wacky day today! We also enjoyed an amazingly successful philanthropy fair on Tuesday. Our community came together for a great cause and students enjoyed buying and selling their own items. Thank you for your participation! Lastly, we learned a lot from Officer Maldonado this week at our bike safety assembly.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and we will see you back at school on Tuesday!

Farewell from Mrs. Berwick
Good Afternoon Walden Community,
I wanted to take a moment and share some exciting, yet bittersweet news. I will be leaving Walden at the end of this school year to become the principal at Medinah Primary School. It has been an absolute privilege to serve as a member of this school, working alongside dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and exceptional students. You will all hold a special place in my heart, and I will cherish the memories we have made together. I wish you all the best and will dearly miss the Walden community.
With love,
Erin Berwick
Walden Garden Day
Come out to help plant native plants in the Walden prairie garden (around the Walden sign) or the Walden rain garden (East of circle drive) on Thursday, June 1st.
Planting time slots are available from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
*Encourage one adult for up to 3 children. Please sign up one child per slot.
Members of community group Go Green Deerfield will be assisting children in planting native plants supplied by the Deerfield Park District.
These plants are butterfly, bird, and bee friendly—creating a small ecosystem right in the school yard!
Look for Monarch butterflies and caterpillars on the milkweed plants and explore for more insects and other animals who depend on these essential native plants.

As part of our mission & vision process, the Deerfield Public Schools District 109 administration established several key performance indicators for the district, which are updated and reviewed at various points throughout the year. One of the newest KPI's, which is being measured for the first time here, is a Net Promoter Score. Simply put, we want to know how satisfied you are with your overall experience with our school district.
Here is a Google Form that will ask you "How likely are you to recommend Deerfield Public Schools District 109 to a friend or colleague?" on a scale of 1 "Very Unlikely" to 10 "Very Likely"
Please rate the district accordingly. There is also an optional space provided where we encourage you to leave feedback about your score so that we can learn and grow from what you share. Your response is anonymous.

If your child(ren) is not returning to Walden next year, please fill out this form.
