But after Pearl Harbor, the country could not remain neutral. The war touched almost every nation in the war. An estimation of 80 million people were wounded or killed. On May 7, 1945. The war contuined for 4 more months in the pacific. Japan did not sign a surrender agreement until September.

Manuel Rivas and his twin brother, Salvador, were 16 yrs old the day they decided to join the U.S. armed forces. The country could not stay nuetral after Pearl Harbor. The U.S. entered the battle in 1941, but Europe had already been at war for 2 yrs. People wanted to fight for our country. Beginning in May, events will be held to commemorate the end of fighting.
