Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 26, Issue 8, September 25, 2018
From the PFC President
With all that everyone has going on every day, it's quite possible that you missed something of note last week. And no, I'm not talking about my Beloved Hometown Seattle Mariners not making it to baseball's post-season for the 17th straight year. (It's a good thing I keep an A's hat and shirt around for just such a situation.)
No, I'm talking about the Autumnal Equinox. Summer is officially past us, and now things are really going to kick into gear both at home (have your kids mentioned Halloween yet?) and here at Thornhill as one of our seasonal events is on the way.
The annual Fall Sweep is coming up on Saturday, October 20, and this is a great chance to come out for a few hours, maybe a have a few donuts with some friends, and help give the school a solid once over. Mark your calendars, bring your gloves, and plan on putting in a little time to help make the school look better. Sign up here to help out.
Also remember… there is no school this Friday, September 28 (OUSD Staff Development Day).
And...I want to give another round of thanks to the PFC Board and Executive Committee for passing the PFC's annual budget last week. It's not an easy job, but your PFC leadership, and treasurer Derek McDonald, in particular, got the job done in an efficient and timely fashion.
Mahalo,
Rex Crum

The Home Stretch
Planning on making a donation to support Thornhill? Now is the time! We are in our final week of the Back to School Donation Drive, and we need your help. We are $81,000 from our fundraising goal. Don’t assume that someone else will get us there; it takes all of us working together to provide amazing teachers’ aides, a PE coach, librarian, music instruction, computers and so much more. Visit the website for details on the easy ways to give. A donation of any amount will help us reach our goal!
Thank you so much to the families who have already contributed. Your support has been tremendous!
