ATTA EAGLE AWARD
Time for the Eagle to fly to a new nest. Our next recipient goes above and beyond her call of duty every day. She takes care of students and staffulty with a genuine heart of kindness and love. Always available to meet the needs of others with a friendly smile and uplifting word. She represents what Chapin Middle stands for in every way. Her work ethic and attention to detail makes her a dependable caregiver and reliable co-worker. We are so thankful for our wonderful school nurse, Ginny Sightler.

OTHER CMS NEWS & NEED TO KNOW INFO
ATTENTION 8TH GRADE PARENTS:
Chapin Middle School has been presented with an opportunity to host an event sponsored by the Palmetto Foundation for Prevention and Recovery for our 8th grade students. Nationally, drug overdoses are now the leading cause of death among Americans under the age of 50, resulting in decreased life expectancy. National surveys have shown that e-cigarette use, or vaping, has risen sharply among teenagers and young adults. In an effort to combat the growing epidemic of opioid addiction and overall substance abuse among youth, the Palmetto Foundation for Prevention and Recovery will present it’s “Anything But Free” program which focuses primarily on providing prevention resources.
On January 30th, during the school day at CMS, your son/daughter will have the opportunity to attend this assembly. Students will be divided by gender and the presentation will focus on substance abuse, addiction, and high risk behaviors. This presentation is aligned with the 2017 South Carolina Academic Health and Safety Education standards. Students will watch a powerful documentary (included is a short clip), “Anything But Free”. Please be advised that this documentary includes minimal profanity and makes mention of sexual assault.
We ask that parents of 8th graders complete the opt-out form if they do not want their son/daughter to participate in this event. Please complete the for by Sunday, January 26th if you would like for your child to opt-out of this presentation. Parents are also welcome to attend. If you would like to attend this assembly or have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s School Counselor.
