Wrangler Weekly
Week of September 26, 2022
Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
We hope everyone has some great plans for this long, Comal County Fair Weekend!
Next week students will have another progress report on Friday, and THIS progress report is the first UIL Academic Check. This means that for a student to be eligible to participate in UIL events, they must earn a 70 or better for all classes on the progress report for Friday, September 30th.
We encourage families to log into Skyward and check for any missing assignments or areas where improvement is needed. Our morning tutorials are very organized: students check in with Ms. Anthony, and she helps them find the help they need. For example, if a student needs math help but their teacher does not have tutoring that day or is tied up in a meeting, Ms. Anthony will direct them to another teacher who is able to help them. This is part of the beauty of a small campus, our teachers know each other well and are ALL IN to support students and fellow teachers. Help your student make a plan toward success, and if you need help, reach out to your student's teachers.
Finally, please help SBMS student to lead by example in the BIG SERVE community outreach project being sponsored by the district. SBMS is one of the few schools stepping up to participate in this event. We would love and appreciate your help. Let your student select and drop off snacks for needy children... check out the details below.
Go Wranglers!
Ms. Bratton
The Big Serve - Donations Needed
Please encourage your students to bring in Individually Wrapped Snacks to the Counselor Corner in the cafeteria. We are seeking: Goldfish, Cheez-It, Chips, Fruit Snacks, Water, Juice Boxes, Capri-Suns, Pop Tarts, Cookies (Animal crackers/Teddy Grahams).
The Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County (CACCC) supports children who have had outcries of abuse. From the start of the process of Forensic Interview, Family Advocate Support, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Counseling. Within these three areas, we see upwards of 60 different children in one week. At times when children and families come for services, they may arrive hungry, or become hungry during the duration of time they are receiving services. The Advocacy Center provides snacks to each child and family. Snacks, beverages, and support all strengthen and allow the children and families to feel cared for and lessens stressors while they are at the CACCC.
END OF THE MONTH -- WRANGLER EXCELLENCE:
Looking forward to the excellence Wranglers will show next month!
Safety Reminders:
Remind your student, have a conversation about the importance of
* wearing their ID -- all adults in the building must wear one.
* never propping open an exterior door or opening an exterior door for a stranger.
Our students have been doing a great job, but continued review is how we maintain excellence.
PTA Masquerade Ball - October 14th
We are thrilled that our SBMS PTA is sponsoring this year's Fall dance on Friday, October 14th from 6-9pm for SBMS students only (no outside guests). All students may attend who are not under suspension.
The Masquerade Ball will be located in the main gym and tickets will go on sale Friday 10/14.
Tickets will be $5 during your students lunch or $10 at the door.
Attire is casual to party dress. Please look for a Sign Up Genius soon requesting volunteers and food/drink donations.
Athletic Schedules
Below is a list of all Fall sport schedules. As a reminder, SBMS students who are passing all classes are given the opportunity to attend any athletic event on SBMS campus for free with their athletic wristband. For more information on athletic wristbands, visit last week's Wrangler Weekly.

PTA Corner
It's not too late to submit your PTA membership and spirit wear order form. All purchases can be paid via cash, check or Paypal (Spring Branch Middle School PTA) and students need to return their completed forms to the front office.
- The Open House Soups and Spuds dinner for the SBMS teachers and staff was amazing! Since the teachers and staff do not have time to leave school in order to get ready for us to visit, a dinner was provided for them. Volunteers did a terrific job of making this happen! A huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated by donating food and/or their time for preparation, serving and clean-up. We are blessed to have such a caring community that supports SBMS. The teachers and staff loved the dinner and were very appreciative.
- Hallway Heroes sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4faaa728a20-20228 And as always, your volunteer background check must be on file for the current school year. The background check may take a few weeks to come back, so please plan accordingly.
