NPS Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal
Election day is next Tuesday, May 4, 2021. The NPS Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal is on the ballot.
On May 4, 2021, voters will be asked to consider a ballot proposal that would renew Northville Public Schools’ current Operating Millage rate of 19.2383 mills for five years, 2022 to 2026, and would permit the school district to continue to levy the maximum 18 operating mills on only non-homestead property each year.
This millage renewal will impose no new taxes.
This is a renewal millage on non-homestead property only. No added taxes for businesses. No tax impact to homeowners of primary residences.

STEAM Fair 2021 - Website Link
This past Wednesday, our 4th and 5th Graders had the opportunity to participate in Northville's "Virtual" STEAM Fair. The day began with live sessions presented by some wonderful corporate partners. CooperStandard took the students on a virtual factory tour. DTE – MIGreenPower taught them about wind and solar energy, while ITC explained how they get that energy to our homes.
Afterwards, the students were able to explore their peers' projects online through a website specifically designed for the event. We now invite you to do the same. Please click the link below to explore the wonderful projects created by Northville's K-12 students. Also, there are links to recordings of the live presentations our students saw from our corporate partners.
Special thanks also goes to the Presenting Sponsor, Community Financial Credit Union and all of the senior sponsors who made the STEAM Fair possible.

Supporting the 7 Habits at home!
We will be working on Habit 6: Synergize this entire month.
Habit #6: Synergize
What this means: Working together is better. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
“I get along well with other people and work well in groups.”
“I value the strengths of others and allow myself to learn from them.”
“I know that working together as a team we can get more done and come up with better solutions than we could alone.”
“I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems.”
How can I do this in my life?
With your children, choose a problem you may have (like curfew or completing tasks). Use the Synergy Action Plan to summarize your child's solution and your solution: (1) define the problem, (2) share your views, (3) think of solutions, (4) choose the best solution together. See if you can reach a better solution (The High Way) than either of you could come up with alone.
Great Books for Habit #6- Synergize
Saturdays and Teacakes by Lester Laminack
Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathman
Swimmy by Leo Lionni
Ox-Cart Man by Donald Hall
My Friend is Sad by Mo Willams
A Chair for My Mother by Vera B. Williams
The Habit 6 Take-Home lesson will go home on Monday, May 3rd and can be found in the link below.

Covid - 19 Updates
CLOSE CONTACT QUARANTINE UPDATE
As you may be aware, there has been a significant increase in the number of COVID cases in our community, and across Michigan over the course of the past several weeks. Citing the increasing case rates and variant spread in Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has reinstated a standard 14-day quarantine for close contacts of COVID-19 cases effective immediately.
Parents should continue to monitor their child for symptoms and not send them to school where symptoms are present. Additionally, if your child has had COVID-19 in the past 5 months (evidenced by a positive PCR), quarantine is not required. We began following these new requirements immediately and notified all families where an identified close contact quarantine could be shortened under these new rules.
**REMINDER** INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The Wayne County Health Department, as indicated on the COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021), requires that students stay home to quarantine for 7 days from the date they return to the U.S. No earlier than the 7th day of return, a student must have a COVID-10 PCR test and have a negative result before returning to school.
SCREENING FORM UPDATED
Please remember to use the Wayne County Health Department COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021) each morning to determine if your child can come to school. If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please plan on a 10 day quarantine as the 14 day quarantine will only be required in circumstances where symptoms are present or as required by the health dept or your child's medical care provider.
