Week of 12.6-12.10
Our TEKS for the week include:
Humanities:
determine the meaning of and use words with affixes
recognize characteristics and structures of informational text, including organizational patterns such as compare and contrast and central idea with supporting evidence
explain how the use of text structure contributes to the author's purpose
compose literary texts such as personal narratives and poetry using genre characteristics and craft
plan a first draft by selecting a genre for a particular topic, purpose, and audience
identify Texas' role in the Mexican War of Independence and the war's impact on the development of Texas
STEM:
represent the quotient of up to a four-digit whole number divided by a one-digit whole number using a variety of strategies
represent the product of 2 two-digit numbers using arrays, area models, or equations, including perfect squares through 15 by 15
use strategies and algorithms to multiply; strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties
plan and implement descriptive investigations, including asking well defined questions, making inferences, and using appropriate equipment or technology to answer questions
observe and identify slow changes to Earth's surface caused by weathering, erosion, and deposition from water, wind, and ice
