Quick Updates & Meeting Follow-ups

In an effort to try new tools, this week's newsletter was created in Smore. If you need a flyer or newsletter, try it out.

We are checking on your District Google Accounts after reports of many who could not get in. We will keep you posted.

We are working on the revised Access Levels. We will keep you informed of what this will look like, and when we will do it.

Erin at Timberline has magazine holders, and wire book displays. Contact her if interested.

My opinion on Killing Dewey, is that when LOC kills him, we will follow suit.

Please send Kit the value of your grants, and how much you are making in your book fairs. Please use total value of proceeds.

If you have not submitted stats please submit ASAP. I do have an elementary submission with no name. You have 310 students. Let me know who you are and I will fix it. Don't resubmit. I am missing Adams, Cynthia Mann, Hillcrest, Maple Grove, Monroe, Washington, North, South. If you sent them in by email, please submit using the linked form. If you submitted by using the form and I don't have it, let me know. LINK TO STATS FORM
I will make the response collection page a shared page on Google, as soon as I get accounts straightened out.

Library Portal Changes

The links on the Library Portal have been moved to a new page. Articles, websites, lists, tools and links to important information can be found here. Check often to see what is new.

Cool Links & Apps

litpick.com has been recommended by AASL as a good site for Young Adults to find and review new YA Literature. Looks like a good place to find what YA's are liking to read. This blog post explains how one class used it.

PictureBookMonth.com is a good resource to help celebrate picture books this month.

FaceTalk is a free iPad APP that allows students to make a "face talk". Even younger students could use this APP to create a report. Be the talking animal, or the person the biography is about.

Library Training

Remember that Kit and Allison are available for on- site training. This can include School Fusion, Destiny, Databases, GAFE, online resources, eBooks, and more. We also know a few tech tricks that you can pass on to your staff. This can be one-on-one or a staff training. Give us a call to schedule today.

Meeting Handouts

Remember that the agenda, handouts and powerpoint from the Oct 28 Meeting are located at: Library Portal > Librarian Folder > Meetings > 2013-14 > Oct 28. There will not be detailed notes posted, as issues that needed addressing should be in this Newsletter.
