HYBRID UPDATE AND NEW SCHEDULE FOR ALL STUDENTS
We are in the final stretch of prepping for hybrid learning. My ask is that parents please read the information in the past newsletters to ensure that you know what has already been covered and have a chance to formulate questions before the parent meeting on Tuesday. Tuesday’s meeting will be a review of already shared information, more specifics about lunch, and time for questions and answers. We will begin the meeting promptly at 6 on Tuesday on zoom: https://beavertonk12.zoom.us/j/83196568379?pwd=VExWNGRudUZIVEtZMktNZVZuSlNaUT09
All Students:
The bell schedule for all students will change on April 19. Please review the schedule to make sure your student understands when classes begin and when to transition to another class. Please note that lunch time will change for everyone. Students will no longer have an hour long lunch from 11-12, it will vary by grade or grouping. The new schedules is below - again it begins on April 19.
Screening
A new form was developed to help parents screen students at home. Students will need to be screened by parents before coming to hybrid daily. Please see the PDF of this form below.
STATE TESTING
Recently Oregon's application for exemption from state testing was denied. There has been a lot of communication back and forth between different leaders at the state level and at the district level to figure out the most effective and least disruptive way to proctor state tests and allow students to access their education. In the coming weeks we will hear more from the Teaching and Learning Department about BSD’s plan for middle school testing including a reduction in the number and/or duration of tests. Please be on the lookout for that! As in all year, families have the option to opt out of state testing. More information can be found on the ODE website linked here. It is a fillable form that must be completed prior to testing. Please don’t worry about the April 6 date you may see, that has been adjusted to allow for different plans per district.
Prueba estatal

Words From FO/RC Library
Last week for “Lunch in the Library”
Distance learning has been rough, but my own silver lining has been the crowd of kids who meet each day at 11:00 via Zoom to have lunch together. These kids are hilarious and just brighten my day. If you are a parent of a “luncher”, please know your student’s contributions have been a delight.
With Hybrid starting next week, the lunch schedules will change for every grade. We will be stopping our daily lunches together over zoom, but I hope to see those in hybrid while I’m outdoors at lunchtime. For those in CDL - we will come up with a way to stay connected. Maybe an “after school snack time in the library?” We can be creative!
Are you on the Hybrid plan? Staying Home for CDL? We’ve got library books for YOU!
We still can’t have large groups in the library for browsing books, but that doesn’t mean Mrs. Zomerman can’t bring the books to you!
Hybrid learners will see books out at lunch-time and Mrs. Zomerman can take requests to deliver later that day.
Remaining at home for remote learning? Don’t let that stop you from checking out library books. Request your books in the Destiny Library Catalog and Mrs. Zomerman will contact you for best way to receive your reads.
IMMUNIZATION REMINDER
Children must be up-to-date on their immunizations before returning to In-Person Hybrid Instruction. If students fail to get their proper immunizations, students won’t be allowed on campus for any reason (no Hybrid, no athletics and no school events) until they’re up-to-date.
Students and families may access immunizations at both the Beaverton School-Based Health Center and the Merlo School-Based Health Center in addition to their own health care providers.
VIRTUAL OUTDOOR SCHOOL!
This week is our second and final week of ODS. Please make sure if your child is participating in ODS that you read the emails from teachers about scheduling and zoom links. I was able to join the campfire for 7th grade this past week! If you have time I encourage you to join as well with your student. It’s a fun time for families for sure!
