Dear ROYALS Families,
We had a busy first week back from break. With just a few weeks left in the quarter, our staff and students are working hard to finish out the quarter strong. As we look to next semester, we are working on a few process adjustments that I will write about as we finalize them in the coming weeks. We are grateful to our volunteers who support us during lunch duty. We are still looking for adults who want to help in other ways, specifically volunteering in classrooms and subbing. If you are interested in either of these, please let me know.
Above all things, the safety of our students is our number one priority. With recent events occurring nearby in Aurora and in Michigan, I wanted to share the variety of ways for students and parents to report when they hear of or see something happening. Inside or outside of school,
Safe2Tell is a 24/7 way to anonymously report an incident. These reports go directly to our Quist Administrators, our School Resource Officer, Thornton PD, and district level administrators. We act on them as soon as we receive them.
We also have several ways to report incidents when students are here at school. Students can go to the nearest adult, they can go to the office, they can send an email or complete a counseling form. Each student has access to the link to the counseling form in their Pathways Google Classroom and also on the Virtual Announcements. Many students also have a QR code. Each student received one, it is just a matter of whether they kept it or not. If your child is new to us at Quist and doesn’t have a QR code to reach their counselor, they may receive one in the office.
It takes all of us to keep us safe. Please support our safety efforts by talking with your child about how important it is to report situations in one of the ways above.
Athletics Updates
Next week, we will host the district Boy’s Basketball Championship here at QUIST. The B-Team will be first 5p - 6p. Followed by the A-Team 630p-730p. Families are invited to attend together. Students will only be permitted to attend with an adult and we ask that you sit together for the duration of the event.
We will celebrate our season with pizza & snacks on December 10th at 445p - 615p.
Here is a Sign-up Genius if you would like to help provide food for the athletes.
Athletes will turn in all jerseys, warm-ups, and locks. Please wash the jerseys and warm-ups so they are ready to store. Fines will be assessed in IC for any uniforms/locks that are not returned.
Next, we are preparing for our Girls Basketball season. Registration will be open January 1 - 14.
We will be using FamilyID for registration. Once the link is ready, you can find it here.
All athletes are required to have a current physical before any participation in practice or contests.
All fees must be current before any participation in practice or contests.
Take care,
Catherine "Kate" Brown
