Feeding the Homeless in Ocho Rios, Jamaica

6 “Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
and your healing shall spring up speedily;
your righteousness shall go before you;
the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:6-8

Behind the Scenes in The Kitchen

Meals on Wheels

We try to take meals to the people instead of having them line up in one spot to get meals to avoid disaster. Last week, there was an altercation between two men. One man tried to take two meals and the other man decided he needed to kill him. The situation was resolved, but we try to meet them where they are. We have a cart that we push through the streets and a route that takes us to the hungry where they live.

The Delivery Route includes More Than One Bridge

One of our stops takes place on the bridge under which some of our friends sleep. There are pictures of the sleeping quarters in last week's update.

After the Food Has Been Prepared

There are even more people behind the scenes who prepare the food to go out to the homeless people of Jamaica. Here is a picture of more kitchen helpers at the end of a shift. They also get to eat lunch and they are hungry, too.

Lifelighter's Ministries
