A Message From Principal Nerby
Hello SBHS Family and Friends,
It is hard to believe, but we are into the month of March already! This month is a busy one at Sturgeon Bay High School. As you have heard, Family/Teacher Conferences have been rescheduled for this Thursday, March 2. We will be holding conferences in teacher's classrooms from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please respond using the sign up genius that our teachers sent out. We look forward to seeing you at conferences on March 2!
Also this month, we have our ACT testing for all juniors on Tuesday, March 7. Only juniors will report for school on this date and they should be here by 8:00 a.m. Buses will run as normal, however students will be dismissed after testing which should end approximately 12:15 p.m. Again, there is NO school for freshmen, sophomore, or senior students on March 7.
On Monday, March 13, we will be holding our Academic Awards Night and National Honor Society Induction Ceremony starting at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium. Invitations are going out this week for students and families.
The third quarter is coming to an end in just a matter of weeks! We will be holding our quarter 3 exams on Thursday, March 16 and Friday, March 17. Students will have a full day of school on Thursday, March 16 with Block 3 and Block 4 exams in the afternoon. On Friday, March 17, we will have a half day of school (district wide) and students will take Block 1 and Block 2 exams. This is the last day of quarter 3 and the last day before Spring Break.
Spring Break runs from Monday, March 20 - Friday, March 24 with the first day back after Spring Break being Monday, March 27. Whether you are traveling or staying in town, we want wish all our students a safe and enjoyable break! When we return, we are already in our fourth and last quarter of the school year. We want to wish all our students a strong finish to the school year!
As always, please reach out with any questions.
All my best,
Keith Nerby
Principal

Community Information
Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) -Support for Internet Access
We know that digital access is so important to our students, and we wanted to make you aware of (and provide helpful tools for) the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). ACP can be used to help close the digital equity gap for students that qualify. With ACP, families can apply directly for a discount on home broadband service and receive up to a $30/month discount on their internet bill and a $75/month discount on tribal lands. This discount can be applied to their existing plan or another plan or service of their choosing.
In addition to providing discounted internet service, the ACP provides a one-time, up to $100 per household discount on a connected device, such as a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet with a participating provider.
Families can find out if they qualify by calling the ACP Support Center (877) 384-2575 or by visiting the dual language English/Spanish Wisconsin Public Service Commission ACP Benefit Page. In addition, EducationSuperHighway provides getacp.org, a pre enrollment wizard that also helps find participating providers available at your address.
The FCC ACP Communication Toolkit contains promotional materials that can be downloaded and customized to meet your school district needs; including but not limited to newsletter blurbs, sample social media posts, backpack handouts, fliers, and posters.
In addition, schools can use the EducationSuperHighway ACP K-12 Toolkit to download letters and student ID templates that can be provided to households to help them qualify for ACP.
Families qualify for ACP without needing to recertify annually if they have a household member who is a recipient of Wisconsin FoodShare/SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Tribal Head Start, SSI, and other federal programs.
Families that do not qualify through one of these programs can also qualify by having a child who qualifies for free or reduced meals, or who attends a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. However, these qualification methods require annual recertification in the ACP program.
If interested in learning more, please consider attending one of the DPI information sessions. For further information please contact Rachel Schemelin at Rachel.Schemelin@dpi.wi.gov or (608)266-5190.
