Montera Wellness Day

Montera Wellness Day brought students together for self-care and fun! Students practiced yoga, spun the Wellness Wheel, put together puzzles, enjoyed art, wrote affirmations, played games, and added leaves to the Wellness Tree. Wellness Day activities encouraged students to stay Toro strong by taking care of each other and ourselves.

To see more pictures of all the day's activities, check out Facebook or Instagram!

Woodshop Donations

If you have a student in the Woodshop program please remember to make your annual suggested donation of $40. This donation helps cover the cost of program supplies and materials (wood, tools, sandpaper, finishes, etc...). Donations should be made by check or cash and given to Mr. Runge directly. Checks should be made out to Montera Middle School with "Woodshop" on the memo line.

Contact Mr. Runge (eric.runge@ousd.org) if you have questions or want to offer program support.

You May Qualify for Free Internet!

We all know it's harder for students to succeed at school without reliable internet at home. Students need it to complete their homework and access resources critical to their development. Unfortunately, many families can't afford internet service. But there's good news—a new government benefit, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), provides eligible households with a discount on internet services and devices.

Click HERE or on the attachment below to find out more.

Filmmaking Fun!

Reel Stories is a non-profit organization created in 2013 in Oakland, CA to train and empower the next generation of girls and gender-expansive filmmakers to combat the gender inequality in the film industry. Reel Stories provides students with not only the technical skills to create their own films, but the media literacy skills needed to critique and improve on the media they consume every day.

This year we are offering bi-monthly filmmaking workshops on Saturdays. Our first workshop will be on October 29th and is on Costume Design! Students will learn about how costumes are used in films to convey character and story, and will get a chance to sketch out and pick fabric swatches for their own design.

Our other workshop topics include: Documentary, Motion Graphics Animation in After Effects, and Stop Motion Animation.

We offer sliding scale tuition from 30-55$ and full scholarships are available.

Click HERE or open the attachment below for more information.
