Monday Matters

Thelma Jones Elementary Week of May 26th- May 29th

Greetings Shark Families!!

I hope you are having a wonderful and safe summer. I wanted to send out a short Monday Matters to simply touch base on a few things.

Please know that the staff at TJE is staying connected with the latest information handed down by state and local leaders to ensure a successful 2020-2021 school year.

MISD to Offer In-Person and Online Learning Options for Fall 2020

MISD will give families and option of in-person or online learning for fall 2020. This means you get to decide what is best for your family. Whatever choice you make, MISD is planning to put our best foot forward and plan in-person and online instruction that is aligned to the curriculum and our values.

Below is the message that was sent to families on July 2nd. Please take the time to read the information. If you are planning to choose online learning, you will need to submit the application by July 17th. The link is included.

Mansfield ISD parents and guardians will be able to choose whether to enroll their child for in-person instruction or virtual instruction for the start of school on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION
In-person instruction will consist of a safe environment that is in alignment with local health protocols. Social distancing will be adhered to as much as instructionally possible. Safety precautions will also be taken for school bus services.

Those wanting to choose in-person instruction may proceed with registration as usual. (New student registration for the 2020-21 school year is already open, and returning students will begin the registration process on Friday, July 17.)

VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION

The virtual option, MISD Virtual Learning Academy, will be administered online and consist of daily teacher/student interactive lessons in each subject area.

Those wanting to choose virtual instruction must complete and submit this application no later than Friday, July 17. Parents who choose this option will still need to register their student into school as well. (New student registration for the 2020-21 school year is already open, and returning students will begin the registration process on Friday, July 17.)

Read more details about the in-person and online options here.

The safety and well-being of students, families and staff will remain Mansfield ISD’s top priority. MISD will remain in talks with state and local health officials to ensure the proper health protocols are in place at all times.

Details are subject to change based on guidelines from local, state and federal authorities.

School Supplies for the 2020-2021 School Year

YEARBOOKS

We are still waiting patiently for yearbooks. Our yearbook editor has been in frequent contact with the company for updates. As of now, they have assured us that they have gone to print and they will notify us of an ETA. Unfortunately, they are working with a limited number of employees due to COVID19 restrictions. We are staying on top of this matter and will notify you with any updates.

If yearbooks arrive prior to the start of school, we will set up a pickup date and time. If you are relocating and need to make other arrangements, please let us know. We are committed to working with you.

Registration Open for PreK and Kindergarten Students

Online registration is strongly encouraged. In-person appointments will also be available.

Proof of Residency 2020-2021

2020-2021 Changes in Submitting Proof of Residence

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Mansfield ISD welcomes you and your family to a new school year! Before school starts in August, all students are required to provide proof of residence (POR). May service dates or later

All families with returning students to Mansfield Independent School District may email their proof of residence to their student’s current campus at: Tjones_POR@misdmail.org

PLEASE NOTE: Each campus has their own email address, so if you have multiple students at different campuses, you will need to send a separate POR to each campus’ email.

Satisfactory proof of residence includes:

  • Electric, Gas, or Water Bill – with May service dates or later

Newly Established Residency in last 30 days includes:

  • Lease Agreement
    • The lease agreement may be acceptable if it is new (30 days or less).
    • Is used when you do not have a utility bill and the lease states bills are paid by lessor.
    • Other documentation may be requested when a utility bill is not available.
    • The lease agreement must list the student occupants.

Any of the above forms of proof of residency utilized by MISD residents must show a service address. Lease agreements must show a beginning and ending date and the address of the property with signatures from both the lessor and lessee. Families who have a contract on a home that will close within 45 days of the beginning of school, will need to confer with Student Services on applicable Board Policies and guidelines for enrollment. Failure to provide the necessary documentation may result in enrollment delays or withdrawal from school.
