Veterans Day November 11, 2020

Big picture

Wednesday, November 11, 2020

Due to Covid-19 Center Point ISD's Veteran's Day celebration looked very different. These restrictions were not going to keep us from celebrating our men and women who served our country.

This year we had a Veteran's parade with a drive through lunch pick up. The Veteran's lined up in their vehicles and drove around the blocks of the school.

Students lined the streets waving and showing love to the Veterans. As they drove through the High School parking lot, Mr. Mills introduced each one. It was wonderful to see this small town pride.

New Staff

Anna Kruse

Ms. Kruse is our 7th grade English teacher and our 6th,7th and 8th dyslexia teacher. She graduated from Bethesda Christian School, in Indiana and went to Indiana University. Commuting from Kerrville for now she would like to live between Center Point and Bandera. Ms. Kruse has friends and family in the Kerrville area, and when looking to move here from Austin, she focused on Center Point ISD. It was her first choice in school districts. Having grown up in a small Midwest farming community, she thought she would find a community here that might share the same values she has come to cherish. Also, she had heard some positive things about Mr. Mills from area teachers, and wanted to work for him. One of her strengths is that she is a people person and most of the time she treats others with kindness, and one of her weaknesses is technology. To quote Mr. Flemma, "There is only one person on this campus more technology-challenged than me, and that is YOU Ms. Kruse!" Her birthday is October the 28th and her favorite color is periwinkle blue, any shades of medium blues and greens, such as sea-green.

High School Football

November 6th

The last game of the season saw your CP Pirates travel to Harper to face the Longhorns. It had been a tough season for us with cancellations, postponements, and forfeiture due to COVID concerns. The boys battled valiantly from the opening kickoff and played their best game of the season racking up 300 yards on offense and making crucial stops on defense. When the dust settled, our Pirates were victorious 21-18.

Jr Bustamante tossed a 12 yard pass to Clay Vincent to open the scoring. Logan Burley trotted in 10 yards untouched to notch the Pirates 2nd score, and Jake Laque bulldozed his way in from 1 yard out for the go ahead touchdown with 6 min left in the game. Sammy Bustamante led all rushers with 109 yards.

Defensively, the Pirates shut the Longhorn run game down and caused two turnovers. Christian Martinez picked off a Harper pass in the endzone to stop one of the 3 drives the Horns had in the red zone. The Pirates held firm with 3 min left in the game thwarting a Harper challenge deep in the red zone to seal the victory.

We thank our Seniors Clay Vincent/Emilio Morales/Haiden Hass/Sammy Bustamante/Kevin Ceneiceros for their leadership, hard work, and we wish you all the best.

It's a great day to be a Pirate!

Future World Changers

This year at our Elementary students are being rewarded for doing unsolicited good deeds. When a staff member observes a student doing good they turn in a simple report to Mrs. George. As those come in, she calls the students to her office and thanks them for being so awesome. Then gives them a small reward and sends the report home with the student, so they can share the good news with their family and friends.
