Mission Statement
Happy Fall Buff Family
The first grading period has ended and we are well on our way through the second grading period of the first semester. We hope that you and your student have been taking advantage of using TXConnect to monitor grades and attendance. Parents and students can each have their own accounts, which allows students to be able to monitor their own grades. This is a great way for students to take ownership of their academic status in each course. Students can see if they are missing assignments or if they may need to see their teachers for test corrections. If students did not pass a class the first 9 weeks, they are highly encouraged to work with their teachers to complete grade recovery. Keep working hard as we head into a busy holiday season.
As seniors receive acceptance letters from colleges or universities and/or scholarship awards, we ask that they submit them to their alpha counselors. We want to brag on our students and celebrate their accomplishments with them! Pennants with their acceptance info are hung outside each suite and this info is tweeted out via Twitter with each student’s permission.
We presented info regarding graduation requirements, endorsements, preparing for post-secondary plans to parents of Sophomores and Juniors in October. If you missed this presentation, it can be found on the Clemens Counseling website. Juniors were given this info during presentations already and Sophomores will be getting this info soon. Counselors are currently meeting with Juniors to work on their 4-year plans. We will start seeing Sophomores after that. We encourage you to ask your child about their meeting with their counselor and review the 4-year plan they are taking home for your signature.
Counselors are available to speak with students and parents about concerns they have. We encourage students and parents to submit an appointment request through our website. This ensures that counselors have time set aside to meet with students and/or parents.
Please watch our calendar through our website, Twitter and Facebook for events happening at Clemens. We will continue to have additional Parent Nights throughout the year. We hope that parents and students will join us for these informational events.
Best wishes for continued success this year!
