Parent Academy

We need parent feedback!

HSI is going to be offering a FREE Parent Academy beginning 2nd semester.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey by Friday, December 6th and let us know what type of workshops you would be interested in attending. This will allow us to better plan based on our parents' interests and needs.

Thank you!

A Note from the Medical Assistant:

Over Thanksgiving break we have had a company come to disinfect our school, including the playground, classrooms, and common areas, to ensure the health of your children and families. We also feel confident this will boost attendance at school.

Attendance is so important as time in the classroom cannot be made up! In an effort to keep strong academics please send all siblings in good health to school. Here are a few tips to keep our kids happy and healthy as the flu season is here !

Math is Everywhere!

Math in Action!

The best part about math is that it’s everywhere you look and we use it everyday! With that in mind it’s a cinch to help your students practice wherever you are! If you are stuck in traffic take that time to quiz your kiddos on their multiplication facts, 3rd-5th.

When you’re at the grocery store have them show off their rounding skills by asking them what dollar amount the items you need are closest too! For example if a carton of eggs says it’s $1.62, is it closer to $2 or $1? A sweet treat is a great motivation tool and learning manipulative! Lay some out and encourage your student to eat some and then ask questions such as, “Do you have more or less than before you ate some?” Small snacks also work great as counters! “How many blueberries do you have on your plate?” “If I take two away how many do you have left?”

Let’s not leave math in the classroom, let’s make sure we see math in action everywhere!

Home Visits

Parents, be sure to send in your requests! Home Visits are a way for teachers and parents to connect and build a relationship as a team for the benefit of the student. Reach out to your teachers or you may also contact Fabiana Montenegro at fmontenegro@harmonytx.org.

We at HSI are working to build a culture and climate of leaders starting at the Pre-K level. We ask all students to start the day with their shirts tucked in. 3rd- 5th grade as our school leaders will be required to have their shirt tucked in all day.

Parents, please help us with the initiative by reminding your scholar to have his or her shirt tucked in each morning!

You may contact Ms. Gomez at jgomez@harmonytx.org should you have any questions. Thank you!
