February 2021

Freezing hot?

Normally, February is the month of love, hearts, and warm fuzzy feelings. We did celebrate Valentine's Day but as we did so, a Snowpocalypse ensued! We had no school and many were left at home with frozen burst pipes and no electricity (thus no internet or way to charge electronics). I believe the record for Tuesday, Feb. 16 was -4 in 1895, and our 2021 low temp was -1!

Podcast Aha Moment

I am late to the game but I have just started listening to podcasts. I don't know why I've waited so long but I think it is because there are so many to choose from. I have been getting feedback from friends on what they listen to. Since my commute is an hour each way from home to work and back, I can use the time to gain some valuable advice or learn something new. One aha moment I've gleaned came through the "7 Good Minutes Daily Self-improvement Podcast". Viktor Frankl wrote a book titled "Man's Search for Meaning" in which he wrote about his struggle for survival during his three years in Auschwitz and other Nazi concentration camps. This is the idea that grabbed me: "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." WOW!
