What's New at Walnut?
May 1, 2016
Principal's Message
- Asking for permission before using a device
- How to close all tabs and why it isn’t safe to click on pop-ups (because of virus attacks or disturbing content)
- According to a recent TTT study, 81% of the children between the ages of 8–16 years old indicate that they are active on social media networks. In light of this, it is important to ensure that they are only using age-appropriate sites to avoid risks of cyber-bullying.
- Bedtime is for stories & lullabies and cuddling with parents, so say bye-bye to video games after dinner
- Informing parents if someone bothers them online or they see a message that makes them feel uncomfortable
Technology can be a valuable part of the 21st century experience, but it is crucial that we as adults teach and model cyber safety.

PTA NEWS
PTA Information--May
As we reach the end of the year, I would like to thank every family at Walnut for all you have done to make our school such a special place. From Monster Mash to Wildcat Strut, the 2015-2016 school year has been a great one. It’s not over yet!!! Next week, come support our library at the Book Fair. Open House on Thursday, May 12th is sure to be a great night. Please come to the General Association Meeting in the MPR to learn all about our successful year. Field Day on Friday May 27th is another fun opportunity for parent volunteers. Hope to see you there!
With your support this year, we once again, were able to help fund our Teaching Specialists, assist with Field Trips, put on educational and fun assemblies, and provide community building Family Events. As we plan for the new school year we are still in need of a complete PTA board, including a President. Without a President, PTA does not exist. Without PTA, all of the things listed above will come to an end. We hope someone in our Walnut family will find it within themselves to take on this job. If you have any questions, please contact Jill Frazier j4frazier@gmail.com.
