Does your child suffer from anxiety?
Anxiety is the most common emotional problem in children and teens. Serious anxiety, which affects 13% or about 6.5 million children in America, can sidetrack youngsters from learning, making friends and having fun.
Does your child: Worry too much or need a lot of reassurance? Insist on doing things perfectly or get upset about making mistakes? Get very nervous around people or show reluctance to try new things? Have repetitive behaviors that don’t make sense? Seem intense and reactive? Have meltdowns over little things? Countless parents struggle to find the best way to help their children cope with these challenges.
In this practical, information-packed workshop, Dr. Aureen Wagner will discuss:
- The differences between normal and problem anxiety
- How children, teenagers and adults express anxiety differently
- The many faces of anxiety: Worry, separation anxiety, school refusal, perfectionism, test anxiety, social anxiety, panic, obsessions and rituals
- Meltdowns and explosiveness
- Red flags and early warning signs
- What fuels and feeds anxiety in youngsters
- Scientifically-proven techniques that help youngsters conquer anxiety
- The do’s and don’ts of parenting
Ready-to-use strategies for parents and schools to help youngsters manage anxiety
