Cabell Chargers
Week of September 12 -September 16, Edition 2; Vol.4
Vision Statement
Cabell will be a premier 21st century school that caters to the needs of the whole child in a personalized learning environment.
Principal Notes
Hello Staff,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Several of you were out attending professional development on Saturday for CAR (Garay, Quintana, McFadden, Peillard, Graves, Grijalva and Moore) and Robotics (M. Vazquez)! I am excited and encouraged by your dedication to making Cabell a premier 21st Century Campus that caters to the needs of the whole child.1. Data Driven Instruction
Monday's PD will focus on setting classroom goals and posting and using data walls in your classrooms to drive instruction. Thank you all for turning in your predictions. Let's use your predictions to guide your instruction this week as you push your students to mastery of the standards on the upcoming common assessment. The Second CIA (3-5) for Math, Reading and Science will be posted on TRS on Monday 12, Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 respectively. K-2 CIA is done at the Feeder level, and are not ready as yet. 3-5 grade teachers should be looking at the 2nd CIA's for alignment and rigor, and supplement if needed (See DDI binder on Schoology). We will coordinate with K-2 teachers so they can supplement as soon as we have the exams.
2.Teachers' Learner Profiles/Goals
This week teachers will receive an email/invite from the coaches to sit and discuss your goals for your learner profiles. Remember that your goals for your profiles should align to at least one of our campus top three priorities: Station Rotation, Social and Emotional Learning and Data Driven Instruction. You might want to consider using these same goals for your professional development plan (PDP) for TEI.
3. Personalized Cabell Staff Shirts
Staff will have the opportunity to order their personalized Cabell staff shirt on Wednesday (Sep. 14) beginning at 3:00 pm in the teacher's lounge.

Teacher Learner Profile
Teachers,
During our August 9th PD we introduced the Teacher Learner Profile and you began to fill in the first section of your Teacher Learner Profile. In case you need to refresh your memory or missed this PD, all of these materials as well as a detailed video are located in Schoology (August PD>August 9th>Teacher Learner Profile). Please complete your self reflection and goal setting portion where you identify your goal or goals and which teacher action you want to focus on. In addition, please begin to complete the Goal Plan Action portion by restating your goal(s), assigning an achievement date, and identifying a plan of how you will get there. Also please begin to think about what support you would like from your coach, coordinator, or administrator. Please complete this prior to the individual meeting with your coach/coordinator.
Your coach/coordinator will reach out to you this week (Grades K-5) to begin scheduling individual appointments with you. You should receive an email from either Mrs. Bergener, Ms. Grossman, or Mrs Moore this week.
Habits of Mind: Persevere.
This mind set describes one’s ability to see a task through until the end. It is “stick-to-it-ness.” We need to help students learn to keep trying and not to give up easily. This mind set also helps students understand that failure is a part of life and that one can learn to move beyond the setbacks and still be successful.
