TIGER TALK
LPS Weekly Newsletter ~ 3/24/2023
Message From The Principal
Dear LPS Families,
It was nice to "officially" welcome back spring this past weekend even though we really couldn't tell by the actual weather outside. Five of our first grade classes made the best of the chilly and soggy weather and ventured out on their trip to Green Acres anyway. I'm told our Tigers still had a great time!
As we head into the last week before spring break, we would encourage you to keep those routines in place. We can definitely feel the excitement building as students start to share their plans for the upcoming break. We will continue to work hard and finish this next week strong.
Enjoy the weekend! We will see our Tigers back on Monday!
Sincerely,
Kevin Fancher

2nd Grade CogAT Testing Results
All second grade students participated in the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) at the end of February. The results will be posted in eBackpack in your TigerParent.me portal on Monday, March 27th. The CogAT is an instrument approved by the State of Ohio to identify students as gifted in the area of superior cognitive ability. A Composite (VQN) Standard Age Score (SAS) of 128 or above is needed for a child to be identified as gifted in the area of superior cognitive ability on this assessment.
If your student qualifies for gifted services, he/she will be served within the regular classroom in third grade by a teacher who receives ongoing gifted professional development.
Please contact Darcie Chandler (School Counselor) with any questions or concerns. She can be reached at chandlda@lovelandschools.org.
2023-2024 Parent Input Forms
Our goal is to match your child's overall learning needs and preferences to an appropriate classroom environment. If there is specific information you would like us to consider as we make placement decisions regarding your child, please let us know using the Parent Input Form. Specific requests for teachers cannot be guaranteed. If there is a classroom environment that you believe will not work, please let us know. If an older sibling had a teacher at Loveland, you may comment on that experience and it will be taken into consideration.
If your child is a first grader, this form will be sent home in your child's folder. If your child is a second grader, this form will be shared digitally via email and in our weekly Tiger Talk. Forms will be shared on Friday, March 31st and will need to be submitted by Friday, April 21st.
Please share ALL relevant placement concerns/information via the form provided. We are unable to accommodate individual e-mails, personal notes, phone calls, and impromptu meetings, due to the high number of students placed each year. We look forward to working with you and your child next year!
