Mr. Goetz's Corner
Dear Deerfield Families,
It has been a wonderful week at Deerfield! This week students who colored a fish and placed it in our ocean for March is Reading Month received a bracelet that says “Dive into Reading” as their special reward. I was impressed with all of the fish we added to our ocean. It was great to see all the reading that our students completed. Also this week, we recognized our students with perfect attendance for the month of March. The students were called up during lunch and they received a small prize. We had 89 students achieve perfect attendance for the month of March! We appreciate the efforts made by parents to have students at school all day, every day. We have noticed a decrease in the number of students tardy each day. Thank you for helping to have your children at school on time!
This week concluded the season for our fifth grade basketball team and cheer squad. I was very proud of our students and how they worked together and played with heart during every game. The students were undefeated, with a 6-0 record and showed great sportsmanship. The games were close throughout the season and our team really grew and developed. A big thank you to Ms. Fortino, Ms. Little, & Ms. Mulka for coaching our teams!
Finally, this week we started our M-Step and NWEA testing. Our 5th grade students took the M-Step and showed great stamina and perseverance while giving their best effort. Our 5th grade friends finish the M-Step next week. We will have students testing throughout the months of April and May. Please read your child’s classroom newsletter for specific dates.
Have a wonderful weekend!
