WMS updates and reminders
- Looking for some summer camping opportunitites. Check out these gifted related summer camp opporutunities through Ohio Wesleyan.
- Student council has been sponsoring a Valentine's flower sale that will run through this week. Flowers can be purchased for a dollar by students during FOCUS block. If you would like to purchase flowers for your student, or on their behalf, fill out this form (Venmo payments accepted). All proceeds go to Pennies for Patients.
- Students in our English Language support classes will begin state mandated OELPA testing this week.
- In conjunction with the PTO, WMS will host a 6th & 7th grade Valentines dance February 16th. This dance will run at from 6-8pm. This event will servce as a behavior incentive for students. Those students with OSS, ISS, or two hour detentions may be disqualified from attending. Tickets will go on sale the week of the dance. 8th graders will have a second dance in May.
- One final conference night will take place this week on Thursday the 9th. Conference sign ups are live. Sign up here.
- 6th & 7th graders will begin receiving information about course offerings for the 23-24 school year. This information will be shared with students during class meetings next week.
- We will once again be offering an Algebra readiness assessment this semester for 23-24 scheduling purposes. Parents may complete this form in order for thier student to be assessed for potential placement in high school credit Algebra 1. Filling out this form does not guarentee placement. This is merely one measurement of readiness.
Congrats to Mr. Hare
Our very own Dean of Students, Mr. Hare, was recently inducted into the Muskingum University hall of fame as a stand out football player. Congrats Mr. Hare!
Kirkersville friends
Sixth graders in Mrs. Hayes' class have been making the most of our newest neighbors. Students have had the opportunity to read to some of the Kindergarteners.
Design challenges
Students in Mr. Oyster and Mr. Schone's Engineering classes were tasked with developing a lunar landing capsule design in classes this week.
What do you equate?
Students in Mrs. Diehm's Math 8 class researched a tree and compared the growth rate (slope) and shipping height (initial value) to their teacher's tree. The system of equations is then graphed to a grid.
How do you ratio?
Mrs. Brown's 6th grade Math students practiced learning about ratios through the use of skittles this week.
Conceptual Review
Mrs. Rose's sixth grade Math students played a creative Math centered version of jenga as they reviewed their math concepts following lessons on equations, inequalities, and functions.
