The Skipper Scoop

Week of May 20th

SKIPPER NATION

After the glorious weekend we just had, we are back at it today. It's hard to believe that we are facing the end of year and all of it's events, activities, and fun!

Remember to keep an eye on the district website for all the Harding happenings.

Enjoy the week.

A Celebration of Arts

The 3rd annual Fairpoet assembly took place last week. The assembly highlighted the distinguished writers, musicians, and artists in grades 6-12.

Fairpoet grand prize winners were Charlie Holbrooks in 7th grade, and Alyssa Smith in grade 11. Their poems were beautifully written and powerful.

Dan Sherwood from the Fairport VFW presented the VFW Patriotic Art Contest awards to Maarika Haller in first place, second place to Kiana Dambolena, and third place to Tierny DeGidio. Thank you Fairport VFW!

Thanks to FHS Alum Hank Werronen for sponsoring the event, we appreciate your dedication to Harding. Another shout out to our wondeful English teachers who work so hard to make this event a success. Mrs. Toomey is also instrumental in this celebration of the arts. Thank you for your collaboration.

Pen Ohio

Mrs. Knight and her writers attended the Pen Ohio Writing tournament on Friday. Emily Luke and Olivia Hoge competed against over 250 writers in three rounds of writing. Emily Luke placed first in one of her rounds and second in another. Olivia competed beautifully as well with some tough high school competition. Nice job ladies.

The entire tournament wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for our wonderful volunteers. Gabbie Carlson, Adara Tharp, Mia Pizzi, Tabby Lette , Andrea McKinney, and Rune Milliman walked the results from the contest to the tabulation room. Thank you volunteers!
