Please keep in mind that traditional calendar schools start tomorrow. Bus arrival times in the morning and afternoon will probably change some since the bus drivers will be back to running 3+ routes each morning and afternoon. Please be patient and know that we are happy to help you the best that we can at the school with transportation questions, however, we are not in control of any of the bus decisions or arrival times.

Please join us for our monthly PTA meeting tomorrow, Monday, August 29 at 6:30pm in the DRES Media Center.

You will learn about upcoming events, school needs, ways you can support our students, and provide valuable feedback on our Home School Compact. We will have a Spanish interpreter.

When: Tuesday, August 30 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm

Where; United Skates of America, 2901 Trawick Rd, Raleigh

$8 Admission

Skate, roller blade, and skate mate rental are separate from the admission price.

Show your school spirit! Roller skate, have fun and support your school! A portion of the admission will go directly back to the school.

Join us this Thursday evening for our Open House to learn about the curriculum, field trip plans, class activities, expectations, etc.

Since Kindergarten already went over all of this information with parents at their Meet The Teacher, this Open House event is for 1st Grade through 5th Grade.

Each teacher will hold two 40 minute sessions. This is not a floating event so please be here at the start of the sessions and plan to stay for the full session. If you have more than 2 children, determine which two teachers you will visit and reach out to the additional teachers to request a copy of their presentation or set up a conference with them.

Session #1 is from 4:30pm to 5:10pm

Session #2 is from 5:20pm to 6:00pm

While at the school, you can register to volunteer and join the PTA!

We will have our first of six Early Release Days this Friday, September 2. DRES will dismiss at 1:00pm. Starting at 1:30pm, all teachers will begin their professional development work so all carpoolers need to be picked up by 1:30pm.

Dismissal is from 1:00-1:30pm.

Reminder that morning arrival starts at 8:00am.

Students should not be dropped off out front of the school until 8:00am. We do not have staff on duty until 8:00am.

Please wait in the carpool line to drop your children off rather than parking and walking them across the carpool lane. Carpool gets started right at 8:00am and moves quickly in the morning.
