Disneyland Raffle Tickets on Sale Now! All students received a flier today with details on the new PTSA Disneyland raffle. Tickets are only $10 each for a chance to win 4 Disneyland Resort One Day Park Hopper Tickets (a $620 value). For every 5 tickets sold, the student will receive a free raffle ticket. All ticket sales to be returned to the front office through May 27th.
High School Sports – Ventura High School and Buena High School have released their parent meeting dates and try-out schedules for their sports programs. Detailed letters are available for pick-up in the front office.
Spring Pictures - If you haven’t turned in your spring pictures yet, please bring them to the office ASAP!
Compass Mentor Interviews - If we received your online application and your signed agreement form, we will be setting up an interview with you soon. If you are willing and able to join us for an interview after school, please let Ms. Johnson know via email or by coming into the Library.
SummerFest Coming May 21st! From 9-12 pm at the ESC enjoy live music, fun zone, sports clinic, walk-in physicals and more! More information available at 641-5000 x1550.
SummerFest 3K – Summerfest 3K is happening May 21st at 8 am. This is a FREE event to students. How far is a 3K? Just under 2 miles. Cross Country team this is a MUST for you plus ANY student who wants to test their abilities, come join us! Sign up at www.vendurance.com.
Yankee Candle Fundraiser – If you haven’t already, please return your Yankee Candle fundraising materials (and sales!) to the front office, ASAP.
Ventura High Dance Showcase - The Ventura High School Dance Team will be presenting their Invitational Showcase May 14th at 7 pm in the VHS auditorium. Ten different genres of dance will be represented! Tickets available at the door, $5 with student ID and $10 for all others.
Ventura High School Dance Tryouts - Dance Team tryouts May 23rd, 24th and 27th from 3:45-4:45 pm at the VHS gym. Boys and girls welcome - wear comfortable clothes!
Cate Sports Academy – Cate School in Santa Barbara offers day, extended day and overnight camp options for current 6th through 11th grade students, placing an emphasis on both athletic advancement and personal development. Important Notice for Parent/Guardian(s) of 6th Graders - If your student has not had their Tdap vaccine yet, they must do so as soon as possible. Students without the vaccine will not be allowed to start 7th grade in August. Please bring proof of the vaccine to the Health Office.
Yearbook - Yearbooks on sale now for $40. To order, please see Ms. Erin, in the front office. We have a layaway programs that starts at $5.
8TH GRADERS
Community Service - Ms. Johnson will be offering community service hours on Friday, May 13th after school to 8th graders who have less than 20 hours. If you are interested, please stop by the library to sign-up. You will be helping her pack books.

Overdue Books and Fines – One month from today is the last day of school. That means that 8th grade obligations will be due June 6 in order to qualify for beach day and promotion. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader going to Magic Mountain must have fines and obligations paid by Monday, 5/16.
AR Reward Party – If you qualified for our Accelerated Reader party by passing 2 quizzes with 80% or better last quarter, you will be invited to join us for our Spring Picnic on Tuesday, May 17. Stay tuned for your official invite.
Read to Succeed Magic Mountain Tickets - Tickets are in! If you earned one, please come to the Library to pick it up.
Poetry Contest Winners - Congratulations to our Poetry Pageant Contest Winners. Leila Velazquez for "This is Greed," Hannah Yale for "Gray Days," Kelsa Ropersmith for her untitled piece, and Antonio Calderon for "He's with Me." Please come to the Library to claim your prizes.
Scholastic Books – The last Scholastic book orders for the year are due in the Library Friday, 5/20 by 2:00. Pick up the latest catalogs in the Library.
Rubber Band Ball Contest – Congratulations to our winners. The total was 1,844 and Samuel Sims won the grand prize with a guess of 1,846. So close! Our other prize-winners were Jose Garcia (1,785), Brenna Walton (1,750), Vishavdeep Singh (2000), Alfonso Cuevas (2,005), and Leslie Munoz (2,032). Come to the Library to claim your winnings.
Video Squad – Meet Wednesday at lunch. Bring your lunch to the Library.
Garden Party – This Tuesday afternoon will be the last garden party. If you need hours, we need you! Work in the garden earn up to 2 hours of community service. Please sign up in the Library, so we can be sure to have enough snacks and water.
Bottle & Can Drive
The PE department is collecting bottles & cans to raise funds for the completion of the courtyard just outside the gym/boys locker room.
DATA students can bring their aluminum cans or plastic bottles (Please no Milk or Juice bottles) to the boy’s PE office. A mile pass and a coupon from “Golf N Stuff” will be awarded for each 55 gallon bag of recyclables. The first 50 students will also receive a coupon from “In & Out” for a free hamburger or cheeseburger.
We are also accepting $20 cash donations. Students donating Cash will also receive a mile pass and coupon from “Golf N Stuff”.
All recyclables can be delivered to the Boys PE!
