Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Every morning, announcements begin with the Song of the Week chosen by our Music Teacher, Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson. Each day, different facts about the singer are shared before beginning the pledges. Listen to the song with your child and ask him/her what they remember about the singer. If they don't remember, give them the task to remember one fact they hear the following day. Having daily conversations with your child about their school day can help nurture trust and social-emotional skills.
From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
We excitedly welcomed our Bobcats back this week. Our hallways were once more filled with smiling faces and growing children. I heard from various teachers of how their students came back making more connections than ever, how their reading fluency has increased, and how their understanding is evident. Our teachers are ready to continue instruction in full force with our students to ensure they leverage this momentum to propel our students to higher achievement.
Parents, I cannot thank you enough for staying in frequent communication with your child's teacher. 2nd - 4th grade teachers will begin to send a weekly assessment sheet to be signed and returned. This will keep you informed of their Reading and Math weekly assessment progress. All our 2nd graders are especially making a critical transition away from having teachers read the story to them. While some 2nd graders had made this transition earlier in the year already, now it's a change for all of them. They are also transitioning into completing their assessments online as we prepare them for what is coming in 3rd grade and beyond. I assure you it is a smooth transition that they are ready for. At home, you can facilitate the change by ensuring they do their homework Monday - Thursday and have them log on to complete iReady lessons at home.
I hope everyone has a marvelous week!
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas

We are so close to our 96% goal! We want our students here with us. Even if they are feeling a little under the weather with a runny nose, our teachers will ensure they have tissues with them as needed. Parents are also welcomed to drop off pain medication at the front office with our nurse to help our students have a more pleasant day. As long as the don't have a fever, we accept our students on school to continue to receive their education.
Grade Level Highlight
Every week, a different grade level appears below. Our teachers develop lesson plans that keep student understanding and engagement as the focus. These academic pictures highlight some of those activities throughout the week.
