Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures

Due to construction there are some changes for arrival and dismissal for car riders this school year.

Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and Daycare Changes:

  • You may only enter the south parking lot coming from the north

  • All vehicles will follow the flow of traffic indicated by the arrows on the attached document

  • Students will be unloaded and loaded using the east sidewalk which is identified in yellow on the attached document

  • Back seats on the passenger side should be ready for students to get in. If your student needs assistance with buckling up, please pull ahead or into a parking spot before getting out to help them

  • All vehicles will need to exit headed south

2nd Grade - 6th Grade Changes:

  • Students will be loaded into cars on the north side of the building to allow more cars in the parking lot and off of 73rd street

Arrival & Dismissal Guidelines that will Remain the Same

  • All kindergarten (and older siblings), 1st grade (and older siblings), and daycare will unload and load in the south parking lot

  • All 2nd through 6th grade students will unload on the west side of the building to enter through the entrance to the south

  • All people will be expected to remain in their vehicles at all times

  • Students may be dropped off at 8:35 for breakfast. They will need to enter through the single door on the west side of the building

  • Main doors will open at 8:55

We know that arrival and dismissal times increase traffic flow around the building. We appreciate your patience as we navigate some new routines and get students unloaded and loaded safely each day.

Safety Drills

Dear Parents & Guardians:
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is a priority at Clive Learning Academy.
Our goal is for all students to achieve high academic standards within a safe learning
environment. We believe it is important to conduct safety drills, which are essential to
implementing our Emergency Crisis Management Plan.
The drills we practice include tornado, fire, lockdown and bus safety. The procedures
related to the drills are practiced by our teachers and staff prior to conducting drills with
students.
Your child may come home and talk about the drill activities, which include:
● Tornado: Moving to the assigned tornado shelter in their area
● Fire: Evacuating the building using the routes posted in their classroom
● Lockdown: Moving to the corner of their classroom away from windows and
doorways
● Bus Safety: These are conducted by the transportation department at K-8
schools in September and April and cover safety around school buses and bus
evacuation.
It is regrettable that we must plan and practice for such possible occurrences, but, in
light of serious tragedies in other schools across the nation, we feel that such drills are
essential for the safety of our children. Working together we can ensure that the
educational process is allowed to continue in the safe environments that our children
deserve.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,
Shelly Pospeshil

Playground Balls for Recess

No matter how many we buy, we never have enough playground balls at recess time! If you have any (used is great!) footballs, basketballs, kickballs or soccer balls that are no longer being played with at home, send them to school with your student and ask them to take them to the gym, to Mrs. Parker. We will gladly add them to our recess cart!

Playground Committee Update

CLA is slated to get a new playground from the District during the summer of 2023. The PTO is working with the District and our students to add enhancements. (Last year's fourth graders picked out a climber addition to add to the District's structure!) This committee is happy to announce that two soccer goals -purchased by the PTO- are being added this week to our green space to help bridge the time until this new playground arrives. Ask your student about them! If you would like to be a part of this committee, email cliveplaground@gmail.com.
