Here are a few reminders:
On Wednesday, October 13th all 10th and 11th grade students will take the College Board Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test, or PSAT. For 11th grade students, the PSAT/NMSQT is the route of entry to the National Merit Scholarship Program.
12th graders will take the College Board Scholastic Assessment Test, or SAT.
9th graders will be in content rotations.
We need all students on campus and in their assigned classes no later than 9am. Students will receive an email at their student email address, letting them know what room to report to. We ask for your support in creating a supportive testing environment. Please do not make appointments on October 13th since we will not be able to interrupt the testing environment.
We appreciate you understanding and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

At 3 years old, Amy already has been through more than most people – chemotherapy, blood transfusions and hospital visits – as she fought leukemia.
Your blood donation helps children like Amy and their families fight their own battles with cancer. Your donation is a promise that you will be there for them when they need you.
Blood donors will take home a $10 eGift card of your choice to hundreds of retailers.

We will celebrate our homecoming week the week of October 12-16. Students will be allowed to dress up for the different themes each day as long as they follow the dress code. Our homecoming pep rally will be held on Wednesday October 13th at 6:00pm on the football field. Our homecoming football game will be played on Thursday October 14th, 7:00pm at Farris Stadium against Stevens. Our homecoming dance will be held in the Taft High School Cafeteria on Saturday October 16 beginning at 7pm and concluding at 10:30pm. Tickets will be sold online.
All tickets to the Homecoming Dance will be sold online. A student ID number is required as a passcode for purchase. Only Taft and Communications Arts students are eligible to purchase tickets. Once the e-ticket is scanned, it will no longer be valid. Please do not share your ticket or ID# with anyone else. A valid Taft/Comm Arts ID will be needed to enter the dance. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend Taft/Comm Arts a "permission slip" will need to be picked up and turned in to the Taft VPO beforehand. Once the guest is approved they will be eligible to purchase a ticket as well. Homecoming tickets will not be sold at the door and the deadline to purchase tickets will be Friday October 15th at noon.

We are living through historic times and the best way to remember everything that happens this school year is by purchasing a yearbook. Yearbooks are on sale now through the end of the year, but if you want the cheapest price of $70 you need to order by Friday, October 15. The price increases to $75 on October 16 and then to $80 on January 29th. Orders are done through jostensyearbooks.com.
If you ordered last year’s and have not picked it up, we will be delivering those to students next few weeks or you can contact Mr. Kohlmann at Taft to arrange pick up sooner. If you did NOT order last year’s, but would like to purchase one, we still have some available for purchase for $80 or you can purchase a package deal of last year's and this year's yearbook at $120. That's a $30 savings.
yearbook pictures (9th-12th grades)
Students and parents, please be aware that in order for students' pictures to appear in the yearbook, students must be in dress code. This includes no facial piercings or unnaturally colored hair.
Additionally, please note that students will be identified by their legal name.
And finally, only photos taken by Prestige for seniors or Lifetouch for underclassmen can appear in the yearbook.
Yearbook pictures for Taft students will be taken on Monday October 18th and Friday October 22nd through your student's English class.
We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact our yearbook adviser Mr. David Kohlman David.Kohlman@nisd.net.
Here is this week's letter communicating positive COVID cases of individuals who have been on our campus. We are sanitizing classrooms, cafeteria, locker rooms and high traffic areas on a daily basis. As always student and staff safety is our number one priority. Please know that contact tracing is done each time there is a positive case and students and staff who are deemed in close contact for each case are notified immediately.
