LEARNERS TODAY, LEADERS TOMORROW.
Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year!!!
We welcome old and new families to the 2019-2020 school year at Tom C. Gooch Elementary School. We have been working hard and preparing to make this the best year yet for every student here at Gooch. Go Gooch Gators! Our theme this year is Learning is Magical, and we can't wait to make this true for each and every student here at Gooch.
As a part of this magic, we are pleased to welcome a new leadership team to Gooch this year. Ms. Kermange 'Kay' Johnson is our new Principal, and Mary Ramos is our new Assistant Principal. Say 'Hi' to them if you see them in the halls!
Parents are a large part of student success and achievement, and we want to do everything we can is supporting you in your children's success. Here at Gooch we welcome parent engagement and parent involvement and are urge you to reach out to us with questions and concerns. We will be offering many opportunities during the year for parents to be involved with the school and support your engagement with your student's learning. Keep your eyes open for parent workshops and many other opportunities.
Attendance is one of the most important aspects of a child doing well at school. A child who is not at school cannot learn. Always remember that attendance matters! Our school day at Gooch starts at 7.45am, and ends at 3.00pm. Anyone arriving after 7.45am will be tardy.
This year at Gooch Learning is Magical and we can't wait to share the magic with our wonderful incoming Gooch Gators!

Making Carpool Work
Carpool makes picking up and dropping off your students as easy as it can be. Please remember to follow the rules. The carpool lane starts on the south side of the school travelling West on Boca Bay Drive. It then turns North onto Rosser Road, and finally travels East on Calculus Drive on the same side of the road as the front entrance to Gooch. Teachers will be waiting to open the door for your child and make sure they get into the school safely. They will direct you where to stop your vehicle to let your child out. Remember that the safety of our children is everyone’s first priority. If for some reason you must walk your child to the front door of the school, make sure that you park on Haydale Drive on the East side of the school. Do not park on the opposite side of Calculus Drive and cross the road with your child. This is not safe. Remember:
DO: Make our children’s safety your first priority
DO: Drive slowly and courteously
DO: Follow the directions of the teachers on where to stop your car to let your child in or out of your vehicle
DO: Display your carpool tag on the dashboard of your vehicle for pick up
DO: Use the carpool lane rather than parking and walking your child to the door. The teachers are there to make the process as fast and safe as possible
DO NOT: Park anywhere on Calculus Drive and walk your child into the school
DO NOT: Park and leave your car in the carpool lane during drop off or pick up
DO NOT: Allow any trash to fall out of your vehicle in the carpool lane
NEVER: Stop your car in the middle of the street and let your child out
The Gooch Teachers and staff are working hard to make the coming year one of our best yet!
