LMS PROGRAMS:
Kids’ Haven Group - At LMS we are fortunate to have Kids’ Haven: A Center for Grieving Children sponsor and run a student group in our school. Two times each month, a trained Kids’ Haven facilitator works with LMS students who have experienced a significant loss to provide grief support during the school day. If your student has recently experienced the loss of a loved one and would like to participate in our Kids’ Haven group, please contact Laura Casler at caslerlr@lcsedu.net.
Virginia Tech Talent Search - We are trying to identify students who have the potential to go to college but who will need extra support both academically and financially. The Virginia Tech Talent Search program offers this added support. The program goals are to improve both academic performance and levels of motivation of participants, and prepare them to pursue post-secondary education.
These goals are attained through:
In school workshops that focus on college access information and academic mindset
Academic instruction, including tutoring at both Saturday tutorials and on-line platforms
Academic, career, and personal counseling
All expenses paid college campus visits
A variety of social and cultural experiences
If you would like your child to attend an informational meeting to learn more about becoming a Talent Search student, please email Laura Casler at caslerlr@lcsedu.net.
