Be an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled teacher who is planning to continue in an active teaching status
Inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn
Have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues
Play an active and useful role in the community as well as in the school

Please include any of the following information (or as much as you know) in the nomination:
College and universities attended
Teaching history
Staff development or leadership activities
Awards and recognition
I need all nominations submitted to me by Thursday, January 16. Please expect a survey to follow that will allow you to vote for the BES Teacher of the Year. The survey will remain open until 3:30 PM on Wednesday, January 22. From that point, the name of the winner will be submitted to the district for their review to determine the nominee that will be recognized at the Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
Attendance Celebration
Our attendance celebration was rescheduled for Friday, January 17th. Teachers will receive an email with students who are able to participate Tuesday afternoon. An announcement will release the students at 2:30pm. Students will enjoy a movie and snack the last 30 minutes of school Friday afternoon.
Chronic Absences
Chronic Absences refers to the portion of students missing 10% of the school days. Chronic absence allows us to identify students who are absent for any reason, whether excused or unexcused. These days can be consecutive or not. In an attempt to help combat some of these absences, teachers received a Google Sheet with their students absence numbers on it.
Teachers, we are asking you to contact your students who are chronically absent to help understand the reason for their absences. When you have made contact, record the date and the reason for the students absence. Our hope is that with this information we can help support our students and parents better. Here is a script for you to follow when you are making contact with parents - Attendance Parent Contact Script
PBIS Fidelity Inventory
In an effort to ensure that we are effectively teaching P.R.I.D.E expectations, students and teachers will be randomly asked to recite what P.R.I.D.E stands for. Please make sure you are teaching this every morning to your students and are familiar yourself.
P- Personal Responsibility
R- Respect
I- Integrity
D- Disciplined
E- Engaged
Students will also be asked a variety of questions concerning the last time they received P.R.I.D.E bucks and what they received them for. We are encouraging everyone to distribute them daily for good behavior. If you need more, please email Ms. Whitley or Mrs. Jones.

Go Noodle- Inside Recess
In the event that the school must conduct indoor recess due to extreme cold or rainy weather, teachers and staff will follow the indoor recess guidelines that promote physical activity for students, to the extent practicable. Go Noodle is composed of hundreds of interactive videos making movement and mindfulness an integral part of the day.
Duty Reminders
1. Morning duty starts at 7:30. You should be on your duty post before students arrive. This will help us ensure proper monitoring of our students.
2. If you know that you're going to be out on your duty day, please switch days with someone or ask someone to cover for you.
3. You should be strategically spread out where you are actively monitoring students (not grouped together) during recess/activitiy time. We have had several fights that could have been prevented if students were appropriately supervised. Improper supervision will result in a reprimand.
Nurse's Corner
Please keep in mind that we are still in the peak of flu season and of the importance of washing our hands so we can maintain good attendance in school. If you are sick, please stay home and help us prevent the spread of germs and illness in our district. Students and staff who have been sick must be fever/diarrhea free without the use of medication for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Any student or staff member with a fever of 100.4 F or above will be sent home! If you have been diagnosed with the flu please make sure to include that in your excuse letter so that the school nurse can keep a record of how many flu cases there have been this year. Remind parents to check their mail and student’s backpacks for letters regarding immunizations. If a student is turning 11 years old this month, they will be required to receive additional vaccines unless otherwise exempt. Parents must call and make an appointment with their doctor or the health department on or immediately following their child's birthday. They must also notify the school nurse of the date and time of the appointment.
