Principal Update
Week of December 11, 2017
Be Elite in Your 20 Feet!
Good Afternoon,
Thank you for the work that you did during your collaborative time on Friday. This was our first Enrichment Day this year. Students really enjoyed having Jeryl Christmas here and our 4th and 5th graders really needed to hear the information that Dr. Wilks and Dr. Kokolis provided.
Professional Development Time - Data Meetings
Thank you for the conversations today during Data meetings. Please remember to enter Fountas and Pinnell reading levels into Canvas by the end of each month. Please continue to monitor and document interventions for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
Professional Development - Professional Development
We will meet in the media center today for a social gathering. Please bring celebrations to share. Thank you kindergarten for snacks.
Peer Observations
You may now upload observations into Canvas.
It Takes A Village
Please support this effort by volunteering or attending. The workshops will be held at First Baptist Church on Dave Lyle Blvd. Dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. and Dr. Edwards will speak at 6:00 p.m. If you know members of First Baptist, please thank them for hosting us.
Faculty and Staff Lunch on Thursday, December 21st, because it does take a village and you all have worked so hard this semester, we will be meeting at Texas Roadhouse for lunch. Our holidays will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be on Santa.
Shout Outs
Thank you Meghan Caldwell for organizing and hosting our staff social on this past Friday. The food was delicious, the company was great and everyone had a ball! Thanks to everyone who attended.
A special thank you goes out to Pastor Steve Hogg and First Baptist Church for hosting "It Takes A Village."
Formative Assessment
Keep the Question Going – With this formative assessment technique, the teacher asks one student a question and then asks another student if that answer seems reasonable or correct. Then, he asks a third student for an explanation of why there is an agreement or not. This helps keep all the students engaged because they must be prepared to either agree or disagree with the answers given and provide explanations.
Quote of the Week
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Nelson Mandela
"Our school values learning, achievement, collaboration, and responsibility as cornerstones of our learning community."
