Hoover Reminders and Updates:
SEPT. 23 DISTANCE LEARNING DAY for all of our Huskies!
This year, our 2 hour late start days have moved to full distance learning days. This means that all students will be engaged in learning at home on September 23. Your child's teacher will send out two Husky Homework's this week. One is their typical weekly homework. The second is their Distance Learning Husky Homework.
Please note, that we will be taking attendance based off of your child's engagement with the distance learning tasks. Please sign and return the Distance Learning Homework page as proof of attendance. Please note that to be counted present, not all tasks need to be completed. We do ask that every attempt is made to have your child engage in each of the assigned tasks.
PICTURE DAY:
We are all set for our school photos to be taken on the 29th and 30th of September. Students who are on campus in the Safe Learning Plan model, will have their pictures taken during the school day between 8:00 and 1:00.
Students who attend Hoover and are Distant Learning will be able to come to Door 1 (Main Entrance) from 3:00-6:00 either night to have their pictures taken. Families, please plan to take a picture, even if you do not plan on purchasing a package. This year, SportsPix will be taking our school photos.
Dismissal Update:
- Thank you all for your support in making the dismissal pick up lane run more smoothly each day. I know that this is a process for everyone, as the number of pick up kids has doubled with buses at 50% capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
- Please note, do not park on Hoover Drive to pick up your students. Signs and cones have been out as a reminder.
- As you are waiting, please be mindful of our neighbors as they are entering or leaving their driveways.
Birthday Treats:
As an administrative team we have worked with food personnel and district nurses to further think through what this might look like. You are welcomed to bring in individually packaged, healthy snacks for a birthday treat. We are asking those snacks be brought to school 48 hours in advance so that we can quarantine the items before handing them out.
Lunch and Breakfast is now FREE through the end of December.
Employment Opportunities:
- PLAYGROUND SUPERVISORS NEEDED at Hoover. Times are 10:35-12:35. To Apply CLICK HERE
- ACES is hiring part time Child Care Assistants to join their team. Interested candidates can apply online or contact Sam Schirmers at sschir1@isd77.org for more information. Interviews will happen on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. Child Care Assistant Job Posting
Essential Volunteer Opportunities:
As you know, due to MDH Guidance, we are not able to have parents and community members volunteer as they would during a typical school year. That said, Hoover is in need of some essential volunteers who are able to provide support outside the classrooms delivering breakfast and lunch to classrooms. We are looking for volunteers Monday-Friday from 7:35-8:00 as well as 10:30-1:00. If you are interested please call or email Kelsey French in the front office kfrenc1@isd77.org. Volunteers will need to pay for and pass a background check
Health Office Update
Greetings everyone!
I wanted to reach out to everyone and let them know I am excited to get back into the swing of things here in the Health Office. With that being said there are a few changes this year with COVID-19. The first change is that there are two offices now. My office from last year is going to be used for illness related issues. The SSC office across the hall will be used for non illness related issues. I will also be going to classrooms for issues that can be handled in the classroom (ice packs, band-aids etc). This will allow us to keep students separated and ease the concern of healthy students being in the same area as non healthy students.
Also we are asking parents to fill out health condition forms if your child has a health condition such as seasonal allergies so we have documentation of symptoms which will help us if we are evaluating them for symptoms of COVID-19. Even if you think your student has allergies or just a cold please call the health office before sending your student to school.
We will be using guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health when evaluating a student with symptoms and each student will be a case by case basis.
Please remember to send extra clothes with your student as we do not have any extra this year in the health office.
If there are any medications or paperwork that still need to be brought into the health office please call and set up an appointment.
Lastly, with the changes to breakfast and lunch being served in the classroom and no snack cart please be mindful when sending lunches or snacks to school that your student may have a classmate with a peanut or other food allergy. I am positive with patience and flexibility we can all have a great year! Please feel free to call me or Julie Carroll at anytime if you have questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Ms. Michal
