"The Owl"
The poet of "The Owl" is a solder who survived the war. Although the soldier may be cold and hungry, these are signs that show that the soldier is still alive, while many of his friends and comrades died in the war.
The soldier was relieved when he found an inn; he was fed and warm. At night, all was quiet, until he heard the cry of an owl. The soldier felt as if the owl was talking to him, remindimg him that he was able to escape what others could not.
With its cry, the soldier's relief, warmth, happiness was gone. The cry reminded him of the soldiers that were still suffering.
