Dear Parents and Students,
No school Monday, 1/17, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Regarding household COVID exposures: If someone in your household has tested positive for Covid, please alert the school. If your child is vaccinated and symptom free, they may continue to attend school. Unvaccinated students will need to quarantine. Quarantine starts on the last exposure to the positive person during their isolation period, even with a negative test result. Also, please take some time to refresh yourselves on the Covid safety guidelines at the bottom of this memo. We're all in this together!
Please check Teacher Ease for your child's current grades. Semester 1 ends on January 27, and Report Cards will come out shortly thereafter. Students must be passing ALL of their classes in order to earn their 4 credits for Semester 1. An INC or INC+ is NOT a passing grade and will NOT earn credit. Finish strong, Cards!
FINALS EXAMS for Semester 1! Jan 24 - 27. Make sure you're prepared! Reach out to your teachers, counselor, HW Center, or Learning Lab for extra help.
Jan 26 and 27 are 3.5 hour early release days with school dismissing at 11:15am. Lunches will be "grab and go" at the end of the day. Lunches may be frozen with the intent of being heated up at home. The lunch bags will also include breakfast for the next day.

EOS Survey in DORA:
Parents:
We are conducting a student survey for all students at FPHS through one of our professional development partners, Equal Opportunity Schools. The survey results will help influence some of our schoolwide goals and let us know some of the areas where we need to improve. We want to try and hear from every student so we encourage you to talk to your child about completing it as soon as possible. There is an app on the student DORA page that takes them right to the survey. If they do not see the app when they log in, try searching “EOS” in the DORA search bar and it should pop up. When logging in, make sure you are using your student email address and take out the zeros that are in front of the student ID number.

Boys Basketball Update:
1/12/22
Steilacoom, WA..................The Franklin Pierce boys basketball team ended their two game losing streak on Wednesday and leading the way the Barbee Brothers as they combined for 49 points and 10 rebounds in a tough road win at Steilacoom High School Sentinels. The host Sentinels jumped on the Cardinals early and lead by as many as 13 points in the 1st quarter and looked like the host school was going to run away with the game. The Cardinals had different plans, strategy get to the free throw and claw their way back into the game. And it worked! Senior Johnjohn "Silky Smooth" Barbee was the general in charge and scored 9 points in the second quarter on his way to a game-high 34 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Freshman phenom Javon "Baby" Barbee also had 9 points in the second quarter on his way to a career high 15 points going 3 for 4 from behind the trifecta arc. The Cardinals cut into the Sentinels lead and trailed by 1 at the half. FP-38 SHS-39.
The second half, much like the first witnessed the Cardinals chasing the Sentinels and then Sentinels were able to fight off the runs of the Cardinals. With just over 4 minutes remaining the game, Cardinals Sophomore guard Mason "Tank" Thomas scored a tough layup on a drive baseline putting the Cardinals up by 2. Thomas finished with 16 points. The ensuing possession, a clutch 3-pointer by Baby Barbee showing he has ice in veins! The Cardinals took the their biggest lead of game on a second 3-pointer by Baby Barbee stretching the lead to 8 with just under 3 minutes to go. The Cardinals got stellar play from their reserve post players, Sophomore Seth Starky and Junior Brandon "Lion Top" Bibbins grabbed some crucial rebounds, took charges and protected the paint down the stretch for the Cardinals as they pulled out a tough win on the road, final score: FP-72 SHS-67. With the victory the Cardinals improve to 5-2 in league play and 6-2 overall. Next Up: Fife High School, Tuesday, January 18th, 2022. Tipoff: 7pm
