PARENT INTERVIEWS THURSDAY 30th JUNE - SCHOOL FINISHES 1pm
PRAYER
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Welcome to the Week 8 newsletter for Term 2. With only two weeks left in the school term, there is a lot to get through!
COVID
A reminder to parents that should your child test positive, please register the result with https://www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/ratregister and also upload a confirmation photo from WA Health and register via our CEWA Self-Reporting Portal https://cewa-collections.powerappsportals.com/COVID-19-Self-Reporting-Form/
Thank you to the parents for your understanding and patience as our school is heavily impacted by COVID absences. Almost 75% of staff have now contracted COVID and it has meant a number of relief teachers in classrooms, including specialist staff and leadership. We are hopeful that there will be fewer disruptions in Term 3.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION SUNDAY 19th JUNE
As Miss Campbell has alluded below, this Sunday, 19th June at 1pm, our Year 4 children will be receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We pray for our children receiving this Sacrament and look forward to celebrating the next step in their faith journey. Thank you to all the parents who have attended workshops and Commitment Masses. It demonstrates a visible importance placed on receiving these Sacraments.
STAFFING
I am pleased to announce the appointment of two new staff members beginning in Semester Two.
Year 2W - Miss Meagan Kruenert
Kindy W - Mrs Linda Ridley
Both Meagan and Linda are very excited at the opportunity to join our community and will begin the transition over the next two weeks whilst undertaking handover. We look forward to introducing both staff members to our community at the next assembly.
S1 REPORTS & REPORT INTERVIEWS
With the increased number of absences due to COVID restrictions, this may be reflected in the Semester One Academic reports. As children and/or staff missed significant class time, teachers may not have sufficient evidence to meaningfully report a grade in a particular learning area or strand. Classroom teachers will communicate if this is the case with parents on an individual basis.
Semester One Academic Reports will once again be released electronically via Seqta Engage on Tuesday, 28th June, Week 10. Please contact mailto:ithelp@stfrancisbutler.wa.edu.au if you need to reset your password to Seqta Engage.
Parent interviews will once again be available for parents should they wish to avail themselves of the opportunity to meet with staff on Thursday 30th June, from 1:30 - 6pm. A link will be sent to all parents to secure themselves a timeslot in week 10. Please note these parent interviews are for parents of children in Pre-Primary to Year 6 only. It is an opportunity to meet with the teacher to discuss the Semester One Academic report. These are not compulsory and many parents may have already met with the class teacher recently. A reminder that on Thursday 30th June, children will need to be picked up by 1:00pm.
NATIONALLY CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA (NCCD)
This collection of data takes place every year and counts the number of school students who receive adjustments or 'help' for a disability and also identifies the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students. Information for parents and caregivers is attached below.
QUALITY CATHOLIC EDUCATION SCHOOL REVIEW (QCESR)
Next week, beginning Monday 20th June, our school will undergo its QCESR. A number of CEWA representatives will be in attendance at the school to speak with staff, children and parents about our school improvement journey and areas for growth in my leadership. It is a wonderful chance to affirm the work of our staff and community as well as identify possible opportunities in the future. Members of the School Advisory Council, P&F, staff, various children from Year 2-6 will all be involved.
NATIONAL SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT SURVEY (NSI SURVEY)
Along with the QCESR, our recent NSI Survey provides fantastic data about the thoughts of our parents, staff and children - all the major stakeholders in a school community. These survey results have recently been returned and show some significant growth since the last survey in 2019. Once we have had the opportunity to analyse and digest the results, we will share these with the wider community.
HAIR STYLES & UNIFORM
A reminder to parents about the uniform and hair requirements at our school. The policy attached clearly outlines the need for hair to be above the shoulder length or tied up and also the need to wear uniform correctly. I will be monitoring this closely with children over the coming weeks and parents may be asked to address it, should it not be in line with our school policy.
FRIENDS OF FRANCIS WINNERS LUNCH WITH LEADERSHIP - FRI 17th JUNE
Congratulations to all our Friends of Francis winners who will be enjoying lunch with leadership tomorrow. Please see the list of children below.
Congratulations to our Socceroos on their qualification for the 2022 QATAR World Cup. A very impressive result given the road to qualification over the last three and a half years. Socceroos in the World Cup, Freo are flying, Fever looking good for the GF - if only West Coast could get a win!
Enjoy your weekend and fortnight ahead.
Best wishes

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS
Dear Families
SACRAMENT OF FIRST COMMUNION (EUCHARIST) SUNDAY 19 June 1pm @ St Andrew's
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will take place this coming Sunday, 19th June at 1pm in St Andrew's Church. Please keep the First Communion Candidates in your prayers as they prepare to receive Jesus for the very first time. Thank you to the families who have supported the Sacramental Program by attending the workshop and commitment masses, and supporting your child on their journey to First Communion.
Family photos with the official photographer will be available before and after the Mass for a short time. These photos will be available to view and purchase online from next week. There is no expectation to purchase the official photos. Please make sure all First Communion Candidates have arrived at the Church by 12:45pm.
BENEDICT FEAST DAY
Benedict Feast Day has been postponed due to a date clash with the Interschool Cross Country. It will now take place in Term 3. Date to be confirmed. Please check the LIVE Calendar & future newsletters for more information.
God Bless
Miss Dee Campbell
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
The two Epple children, Emily (5W) and Josh (3B) were lucky to recently travel to Sydney for a family trip. They eagerly spotted a couple of Bondi celebrities while out and about - for those Bondi Rescue fans, you'd know them as 'Singlets' and 'Jethro'. Congratulations to the Epple children and their brush with fame! We may need to give them new Bondi Rescue nicknames around school.
SPORT NEWS
What a great day, despite the cool weather. All the children ran really well and it was great to see the smiles on all their faces. Thank you Rose Canzirri, Megan Epple, and Hazel Collopy for volunteering your time and standing out in the cold to encourage and cheer on the children. The overall winning faction was BENEDICT and the faction leaders were presented the shield at last week's merit assembly. Congratulations to the following students who have made the interschool team due to their outstanding performance and will be representing the school next Friday at Mawson Park, Hillarys. Good luck to all competitors..
Regards,
Amanda Hamilton
