Principals' Update
Greetings MacArthur Families,
Happy Friday! Happy Trunk or Treat! Thank you again to our amazing PTO for putting together these fabulous community events for all to enjoy. We look forward to seeing many of you this evening. Thank you to all who have helped contribute to the event.
This week's Unity Day served as another special day at MacArthur to promote inclusion, acceptance, and kindness. Students were reminded of the importance of using their voice to stand up for those being mistreated to positively impact those around them. It was an important reminder for all to see, hear, and feel. We also spoke during morning announcements, lunches, and visits around the building about the importance of being an "upstander" instead of a bystander. Be on the lookout next month for the return of our "Kindness Boomerangs!"
Our MacArthur School Council and Equity and Inclusion (E&I) committee are about to begin their work for the 2023-2024 school years. These two volunteer opportunities help to support the connected community that we are striving for at MacArthur. School Council works to provide feedback to each of us on our school improvement efforts. E&I focuses on working to ensure that we are providing an inclusive, welcoming learning environment for all of our families. Please contact kevinkmiec@walthampublicschools.org for more information.
Save the Date- Multicultural Festival: The MacArthur School Multicultural Festival is returning to November this school year! We have enjoyed this event later in the school year over the past two years and we are eager to have it during the first half of the school year once again this year. Please join us on November 16th for this special event. If you are interested in signing up to participate and share some of your cultural heritage, please complete this Google Form.
Family Feedback Wanted: Next week begins our request for feedback from families via our Panorama Survey. A committee of District Staff and administrators worked diligently to reduce the amount of questions on the survey to make it more accessible for families. Please take time to provide input on your school experience when prompted. We greatly value this feedback and use it to help us grow to be a more welcoming and supportive community to all families.
If you are interested in additional local spooktastic themed events in the community this upcoming week, click here to learn more about a few events at the Waltham Public Library. Party Invitation 2023.
Finally, a reminder that Wednesday 10/25 is an Early Release Day. Dismissal will be at 1pm and lunch will be served.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Forsyth Dental will be at MacArthur on 10/31/23. The students who were previously enrolled and newly enrolled will receive dental services on that day. Forsyth Dental consent forms were sent home this week to enroll your student . Forsyth Dental is a free program for students that do not have a dental home. They provide preventative dental care.
We are starting to see an increase in winter illnesses at school. If your student isn’t feeling well, please keep them home. This helps us to reduce the spread of germs and illness. Please reach out with any questions as they arise.
