Message From Mr. Goddard
Barron Park Elementary
September 18, 2020
Dear Barron Park Families,
Hope all of you are doing well. Last week, Santa Clara County was downgraded from purple (widespread) to red (substantial) in California’s four-tiered reopening system. According to the color-coded system, schools could reopen in person If Santa Clara County remains in the red tier or moves to a lower tier (moderate) for 14 consecutive days. Currently, many school districts across the county are considering plans to reopen if the county remains in the red tier or moves to the lower (moderate) tier. It is difficult to predict what will happen but PAUSD will be prepared either way to open schools if allowed or remain in distance learning if that is what we are required to do. The earliest PAUSD could reopen is October 12. More detailed information regarding California’s color coded tracking system can be found HERE.
With these recent changes of the health conditions in our county, quite a bit of information will start to fill your inbox and it is very important to stay informed. On Tuesday, September 21, the School Board will be presented with detailed reports regarding reopening from District staff. A wealth of information will be reviewed such as proposed start dates for in-person instruction, options for families to choose Full Distance Learning, and safety measures that will be implemented to keep students and staff safe if in-person instruction resumes. The current start dates being considered below, reflect a gradual approach to returning to school. The current proposals being considered are:
- TK – 1 October 12 (3 weeks from now)
- 2 – 3 October 26 (5 weeks from now)
- 4 – 5 November 9 (7 weeks from now)
- 6 – 12 January 7 (start of second semester)
On Monday, September 21st at 5:30pm Superintendent Austin will hold "Backstage with the Superintendent" to discuss reopening plans with families. Click here to join the meeting. Here is the link to the Tuesday, September 22nd PAUSD School Board Meeting.
After the School Board Meeting, I will work on scheduling a zoom meeting for our Barron Park Community so we can check in together and talk through questions families might have.
Will be in touch soon – enjoy the weekend,
Eric Goddard
