African American Junior and Senior Scholarship opportunity:
A RON BROWN SCHOLAR PROGRAM INITIATIVE
Guided Pathway Support Program uses a “high-tech and high-touch” advising and information sharing model to empower African American high school juniors, seniors, their parents and counselors during the college preparation and selection process. The criteria for the scholarship is as follows:
- 1. Nominee must attend advanced education after high school graduation.
- 2. Nominee lifts people up, spreads goodwill, kindness and love to their peers.
This is a student/senior nominated scholarship.
One nomination per senior.

Hamilton Relay 20-21 Scholarship
$500.00
The Hamilton Relay Scholarship is an opportunity for seniors in Virginia who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking to assist in their goals of continuing their education.
You must submit the application, write an essay under the topic of communication technology and provide a letter of recommendation.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides four-year scholarships of $30,000 and extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement, to highly motivated African American students who have maintained a 98% college graduation rate.

Local Scholarship: Hanover Caroline Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship
The Hanover-Caroline Soil and Water Conservation District’s educational mission is to provide educational opportunities to citizens of Virginia to become responsible stewards of the environment and natural resources for the benefit of all.
- Three scholarships of $5000 each are available to outstanding graduating seniors in Hanover and Caroline County public schools.
Criteria for Eligibility:
1. Student must attend a Hanover or Caroline public high school AND reside in the respective county.
2. Applied for admission to an accredited institution of post-secondary education, preferably in the state of Virginia.
3. Applicant shall demonstrate an active interest in conservation. Applicant will continue his/her education in a course curriculum related to natural resource conservation, environmental studies and/or agriculture.
4. Applicant shall be in the top 20% of his/her high school graduating class or possess a 3.0 or greater Grade Point Average. The applicant’s most recent official school transcript must accompany the application.
5. Possess good communicative and quantitative skills as indicated by his/her scholastic record and/or personal interview.
6. In order to be considered for this award, applicants must have applied to and been accepted by a postsecondary institution, not later than May 15, 2019.

The Virginia Credit Union is offering 30 scholarships, up to $2500 each, to its members! George E. Allen Academic Scholarship

Eligible:
- High school seniors who are headed to a 2 or 4-year college or university, or a technical/trade school.
- A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate good character, scholastic improvement, and high achievement despite having to overcome obstacles or special challenges.

The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia History Essay Contest
$4000 - $6000 ( four awards)
To be eligible:
- Must be a graduating senior accepted to a four year college or university in the State of Virginia and plan to attend in the Fall of 2021.
Essay topic:
- The essay must concern a historical topic or event that played an important role in the establishment of our nation. The topic for this year: Washington's Spies and their influence on our Revolutionary War. Essay must be 1500 words.

We know that you are all doing great things this year, and you are starting to make exciting plans for next year and life after graduation, whether that is enrolling in college, enlisting in the military, or getting employed. Because of that we are so excited to start celebrating YOU. Please fill out the senior recognition form to let us know about your college acceptances, military enlistment, or job offers that you have received.

Senior Awards May 17th, 2021
Send all college acceptance letters, military acceptances, job offers, and all scholarship awards and the documentation to support - even if you will not accept or attend that college or scholarship. Email this information to Mrs. Huntsinger dhuntsinger@ccps.us

ASVAB: Registration is open!
Are you an 11th or 12th grader interested in taking the ASVAB? CHS will be holding the ASVAB here for you on February 16th, 2021, and February 17th, 2021!
